Feng Shui Inspired Design

This project represents a complete reimagining of a ground floor layout, centred around a modern rear extension and a deep commitment to a wellness led design philosophy.

By merging architectural remodelling with Feng-Shui principles and environmental psychology, we transformed a compartmentalised house into a fluid, restorative environment that nurtures our clients' mental and physical well-being.
The kitchen is designed as a study in warmth, utilising light-toned oak cabinetry with vertical slat detailing to introduce a grounding wood element. We selected a dramatic, honey-veined marble for the waterfall island and full-height backsplash to provide a cooling, sensory experience and represent the earth element. Oversized, hammered copper pendants provide a soft fire element glow, contrasting with the clean lines of the integrated appliances. The kitchen island also serves as an intentional social hub, featuring minimalist bar stools in forest green leather that pull the colours of the garden indoors.

The new extension focuses on the psychological concepts of prospect and refuge by offering wide views of a zen garden while providing secure, protected nooks like the green velvet banquette dining area. Architectural skylights and floor-to-ceiling black-framed glazing flood the home with natural light, helping to align the interior atmosphere with the clients' natural circadian rhythms. This open plan layout eliminates physical barriers, allowing energy to move freely throughout the transition from high-energy cooking zones to tranquil relaxation areas.

In the workspace, we prioritised nervous system regulation by placing the desk in a commanding position. An original reclaimed brick wall provides a psychological mountain of support behind the occupant, while the layout ensures a clear line of sight to the room's entry to reduce stress.

Throughout the home, we balanced industrial textures with soft wool rugs, rattan lighting, and lush greenery to create a sanctuary that actively lowers cortisol levels and promotes long-term health.
