Get Your Craft Paper Under Control
A stash here, a roll there, and you can never find it when you need it? These tips for craft paper storage and organization can help
This past week, I've been up to my ears with all things crafting: buttons, stickers, scrapbooks — you name it, I've organized it. But during this organizing project, I noticed that craft paper was one of those categories that seemed to have endless options for how to organize and store it. And while most folks don't have enormous craft rooms to keep organized (much less the things contained within their walls), almost everyone owns craft paper. So tune in and take notes on how to keep it stored and in order.
No drawer space? Use paper tray cubbies to keep your craft paper front and center.
Luxury: Custom build cubbies to meet your paper storage needs.
Off the shelf: Pick up a paper storage cube and place it in a low cabinet or on a countertop for easy access.
DIY: Stack a shelf helper on a cabinet shelf to divide the height and maximize space.

Alternate option: Attach an undershelf basket to your cabinet or shelf to utilize vertical space while keeping countertops open.
Repurpose
Most of my clients have a spare paper sorter or two lying around. Why not repurpose yours for craft paper? These organizers come in stacking or vertical styles.
Friendly reminder: With vertical file sorters, remember to use regular file folders to keep your craft paper from folding over.

I love a good over-the-door shoe organizer (aka the most versatile organizing product ever). Use this to store smaller-size craft paper and cutouts.
Roll It Up
Craft paper comes in many sizes. Larger sheets that take up too much room when laid flat are a cinch to roll and store.
Decorator's touch: Use twine to tie each roll, then store the rolls in a vintage bin.

Dowels and small tension rods are all the rage in the organizing world. These inexpensive organizing tools can be used on an open wall, underneath a cabinet or inside a closet.

House craft paper in drawers if you like things tucked away neatly. The only challenge I find with this option is you can see only what's stored on the very top.
This option is best for when you're stacking multiples of the same color or pattern and you've got room to spread out.
Friendly reminder: Sort your craft paper before stashing. Organize by color, pattern, size, brand or holiday season — whatever works for you.
