Sally Conran Studio Ltd.Sally was asked to design and oversee the complete refurbishment of this stunning yet poorly converted one bedroom apartment set in a handsome period mansion block on the outskirts of Covent Garden in Central London.
Enormously high ceilings give this apartment a New York lofty feel while large original windows flood the space with natural light. Sally discovered that original windows and decorative pillars had been boarded up and so immediately set about reinstating these unique period features. A streamlined kitchen with expansive lightly veined worktops and contemporary oak cabinetry was designed to compliment a classic oak parquet floor, giving the apartment a light, contemporary and natural feel.
Rich tones of walnut, brushed brass, shades of tobacco and forest green leather, chocolate velvet and earthy linens were all added to create a layered and eclectic palette set against a backdrop of atmospheric teal and interesting off-beat light fittings.
ATELIER RAUMFRAGENMaterialität und Struktur — sinnlich und reduziert
Im Innenraum bestimmt Seekiefer das Bild: weiß geölt, entwickelt sie eine natürlich warme, luftige Atmosphäre.
Das Innere haben wir bewusst nicht in kleine Zimmer unterteilt, sondern über eine geschickte Zonierung organisiert: Schlafalkoven für die Kinder bieten Rückzugsorte ohne starre Begrenzungen, eine auskragende Fensternische erweitert den Raum und schafft einen besonderen Aufenthaltsort auch an regnerischen Tagen.
Die anderen Fensteröffnungen wurden ebenfalls gezielt nach den inneren Raumabfolgen neu platziert und proportioniert – jedes Fenster fängt eine spezifische Blickachse ein oder referenziert auf das Nutzungsszenarium dahinter.
Außen wurde das Haus mit rauen, vertikal angeordneten Holz-Spundbrettern bekleidet, die mit den Jahren natürlich vergrauen und es harmonisch in die Landschaft einbinden
UserLa parete che divide la stanza da letto con il soggiorno diventa una libreria attrezzata. I pannelli scorrevoli a listelli creano diverse configurazioni: nascondono il televisore, aprono o chiudono l'accesso al ripostiglio ed alla zona notte.
Azman ArchitectsA unit in walnut and bronze acts to create a study. Lacquered shutters were fixed to the back of the unit so that the study can be screened off from the living area when desired.

Lisette Voute DesignsRadiator covers are both a nice way to discretely hide unattractive radiators, as well as providing handy storage/surfaces, like this console table design. Twin brass lamps either side frame the map we hung on the wall.
