Astounding InteriorsThe Hengist Restaurant has been operating since 1980 as a quality traditional restaurant. The Establishment was recently sold and a consortium purchased it, Astounding won the design contract and proceeded to redesigned the whole venue. We turned the former ground fine dining restaurant in to a more relaxed lounge bar now offering all day dining and maximising trading times. Antique and metallic leather plays a part in the Tuscan style design all in keeping with the traditional beams that have been there for 400 years.
Capital Design LLCBalancing the elements of cool and warm, reflective and patinaed is the secret to success in this Modern Showhouse, held at the Washington DC Design Center. Stainless finishes on the table, sideboard and stools are contrasted by the warmth, of the antique Asian armoire, the upholstered wood chairs and the thick wool rug. This project was featured in Metropolitan Home Magazine and the Washington Post.
UserNew wood flooring, carpeting, wallpaper and fine window treatments were added in client's new home to warm things up and complement their fine classic and colorful furnishings. A square carpet insert was added to set off the round dining table, adding another custom touch. Be sure to check-out the Before photos!
SV DesignLocated on the flat of Beacon Hill, this iconic building is rich in history and in detail. Constructed in 1828 as one of the first buildings in a series of row houses, it was in need of a major renovation to improve functionality and to restore as well as re-introduce charm.Originally designed by noted architect Asher Benjamin, the renovation was respectful of his early work. “What would Asher have done?” was a common refrain during design decision making, given today’s technology and tools.

Design Connection, Inc.After decorating many rooms in our clients’ home, it was time to tackle the dining room and living room. They still cherished the dining room table as well as a few pieces in the living room and asked that we incorporate these pieces into their fresh, new design.
Our clients especially love the taupe and silver metallic wallpaper in the dining room and the way it visually connects the two rooms together with graphics and colors. The dining room chandelier is of the latest style. The oval shape and the crystal infused with the new-brushed gold create a gorgeous new look, blending well with the table and chairs from long ago.
At the request of our clients, we renewed the classic nature of these spaces by connecting new furniture and accessories with pieces from thirty years ago. This living room and dining room prove that if you invest in nice furnishings that are classic in style, they will stand the test of time.
