David Moulton AIAIn the master bath Sea Ranch Architect David Moulton AIA introduced a teak-plank box to wrap the bathing area. Existing ceramic tile counters, shower enclosure and tub surrounds were replaced with a series of tiles that provide texture and reflectivity, to draw in the natural landscape: Artistic Tile's Ambra Lake Blue sculptural wave-tile floats on the vanity wall; Porcelenosa’s Brunei-Blanco provides a subtle shimmer of soft white texture to the shower and a sliced pebble shower floor echoes both the natural landscape and the organic materials within the space. A new WetStyle freestanding tub, with a floor-mounted filler column by Kallista, perches beautifully inside its custom teak surround. The existing vanity was wrapped in Altair Silestone and topped with Watermark lavatory faucets presiding over Duravit white porcelain sinks.

Ein offenes Regalelement zum Stauraum für Handtücher und Naturkörbe verlängert zusätzlich die Wand zwischen Waschtisch und Dusche.
In der Wandscheibe zum Waschtisch wurde eine Nische geschaffen, welche durch ein kleines Eschenregal eingerahmt wird, selbstverständlich ebenfalls flächenbündig und mit dezenter Schattenfuge.
Die eigentliche Wohlfühlwirkung wurde durch die gekonnte Holzauswahl erreicht: Fortlaufende Holzmaserungen über mehrere Fronten hinweg, fein ausgewählte Holzstruktur in harmonischem Wechsel zwischen hellem Holz und dunklen, natürlichen Farbeinläufen und eine Oberflächenbehandlung die die Natürlichkeit des Holzes optisch und haptisch zu 100% einem spüren lässt – zeigen hier das nötige Feingespür des Schreiners und die Liebe zu den Details.
Holz in seiner Einzigartigkeit zu erkennen und entsprechend zu verwenden ist hier perfekt gelungen!
Custom Design & ConstructionOur client approached us while he was in the process of purchasing his ½ lot detached unit in Hermosa Beach. He was drawn to a design / build approach because although he has great design taste, as a busy professional he didn’t have the time or energy to manage every detail involved in a home remodel. The property had been used as a rental unit and was in need of TLC. By bringing us onto the project during the purchase we were able to help assess the true condition of the home. Built in 1976, the 894 sq. ft. home had extensive termite and dry rot damage from years of neglect. The project required us to reframe the home from the inside out.
To design a space that your client will love you really need to spend time getting to know them. Our client enjoys entertaining small groups. He has a custom turntable and considers himself a mixologist. We opened up the space, space-planning for his custom turntable, to make it ideal for entertaining. The wood floor is reclaimed wood from manufacturing facilities. The reframing work also allowed us to make the roof a deck with an ocean view. The home is now a blend of the latest design trends and vintage elements and our client couldn’t be happier!

To accommodate a double vanity, we re-claimed space from an existing closet and replaced the lost space by adding a cantilever on the other side of the room.

Denise Quade DesignThe archway over the shower sliding doors mimics the archway over the vanity. Marble tile in various sizes and patterns was used throughout the shower. Herringbone marble tile was used on the floor and as an accent tile on the wall. A long shampoo shelf was added over the floating bench. An adjustable shower head was placed near the bench and a shower head was placed on the opposite end.

iSpace, LLCOur design concept for this new construction was to work closely with the architect and harmonize the architectural elements with the interior design. The goal was to give our client a simple arts & crafts influenced interior, while working with environmentally friendly products and materials.
