Since this custom wine cellar in California was once a dry sauna, there were some aspects that proved tricky to work around. One of which was a sauna pump, jutting out in the back of the residential wine cellar in an unattractive way. Mike Morris of 'Finish Right' placed a removable patch of wood over the area, allowing it to blend with the premium redwood wine cellar environment. Above this area is racking intended for storing wines individually. The total capacity of the wine cellar is 556 bottles. Both the door and wine cooling system play an important role in the proper preservation of the wine. This photo shows the elegant Coto style door installed by Wine Cellar Specialists. It is an exterior grade door constructed from wood, wrought iron, and glass. It is equipped with sealing components. The wine cooling system used was manufactured by US Cellar Systems. The evaporator was installed inside the cellar while the condenser was placed outdoors, resulting in a quiet operation. Den optimale opbevaringstemperatur er noget af det vigtigste, men tænk også over belysning, vibrationer, og lugte - alt som noget, der kan påvirke vinen i dit vinrum.

Hvornår har jeg brug for en vinkælder?

Når du planlægger at indrette et kælderrum til dit vin, kan du begynde at tænke over hvad der skal være deri. Det første, og vigtigste er vinopbevaring, typisk i form af vinreoler eller vinskabe. Dem kan du få i alverdens design, farver, og materialer, så de passer den design og atmosfære du går efter. Du kan også overveje et vinkøleskab, hvis du foretrækker din vin afkølet, eller hvis du ikke kan holde temperaturen i rummet på det mest optimale. Hvis du har plads i vinkælderen, kan du også overveje en tom vintønde, der kan fungere som et bord. Indretning med brugte vintønder giver dig også mulighed for at invitere dine gæster på vinsmagning i de helt rigtige omgivelser.

Hvordan opbevarer jeg ellers vin?

De rette forhold sikrer, at vinen holder kvaliteten, så det er en god idé at overveje, hvordan du lagrer dine vinflasker. Temperaturen er et af de vigtigste elementer, og den helt optimale temperatur er omkring 10-12 grader. Det kan være svært at ramme, hvis du eksempelvis bor i lejlighed. Derfor kan du overveje at lave opbevaring i dit soveværelse i stedet for - det vigtigste at huske er, at vinen ikke tåler hurtige temperatursvingninger og direkte sollys.
