Tina Colebrook ArchitectThe existing quirky floor plan of this 17 year old kitchen created 4 work areas and left no room for a proper laundry and utility room. We actually made this kitchen smaller to make it function better. We took the cramped u-shaped area that housed the stove and refrigerator and walled it off to create a new more generous laundry room with room for ironing & sewing. The now rectangular shaped kitchen was reoriented by installing new windows with higher sills we were able to line the exterior wall with cabinets and counter, giving the sink a nice view to the side yard. To create the Victorian look the owners desired in their 1920’s home, we used wall cabinets with inset doors and beaded panels, for economy the base cabinets are full overlay doors & drawers all in the same finish, Nordic White. The owner selected a gorgeous serene white river granite for the counters and we selected a taupe glass subway tile to pull the palette together. Another special feature of this kitchen is the custom pocket dog door. The owner’s had a salvaged door that we incorporated in a pocket in the peninsula to corale the dogs when the owner aren’t home. Renovisions These homeowners were anxiously ready to remodel their dated 80’s kitchen and reached out to Renovisions to handle the transformation. In this new undertaking we met to discuss plans to brighten the dark room with custom painted white inset cabinets, adding more functional storage, better task lighting and GE Monogram appliances, new hardwood flooring throughout and creating a better flow into the adjacent family room. In order to open up the space, Renovisions suggested creating an angle at the peninsula. Continuing with this approach we replaced the rear door with a new one-light door that swings out instead of in to accommodate new bar stools and a better flow of traffic in and out to the deck outside. Silestone’s quartz countertops in ‘Merope’ were the perfect choice adding a nice contrast yet truly durable and low maintenance. Creating a beautifully unique subway tile niche in linen color at cooktop area and backsplash added an elegant touch to the overall look and homeowners were thrilled with this refreshing look after the Renovision.
Now their newly renovated kitchen is a showcase and nicely outfitted for family and friends.
Lincorp / BorchertPainted cabinets from Bishop, with a glazed finish lighten the area. The wall with the hood and cooktop was originally an entrance into a cramped galley style kitchen.

Nar Design GroupThis kitchen proves small East sac bungalows can have high function and all the storage of a larger kitchen. A large peninsula overlooks the dining and living room for an open concept. A lower countertop areas gives prep surface for baking and use of small appliances. Geometric hexite tiles by fireclay are finished with pale blue grout, which complements the upper cabinets. The same hexite pattern was recreated by a local artist on the refrigerator panes. A textured striped linen fabric by Ralph Lauren was selected for the interior clerestory windows of the wall cabinets.
Projet Wabi-sabiProjet livré fin novembre 2022, budget tout compris 100 000 € : un appartement de vieille dame chic avec seulement deux chambres et des prestations datées, à transformer en appartement familial de trois chambres, moderne et dans l'esprit Wabi-sabi : épuré, fonctionnel, minimaliste, avec des matières naturelles, de beaux meubles en bois anciens ou faits à la main et sur mesure dans des essences nobles, et des objets soigneusement sélectionnés eux aussi pour rappeler la nature et l'artisanat mais aussi le chic classique des ambiances méditerranéennes de l'Antiquité qu'affectionnent les nouveaux propriétaires.
La salle de bain a été réduite pour créer une cuisine ouverte sur la pièce de vie, on a donc supprimé la baignoire existante et déplacé les cloisons pour insérer une cuisine minimaliste mais très design et fonctionnelle ; de l'autre côté de la salle de bain une cloison a été repoussée pour gagner la place d'une très grande douche à l'italienne. Enfin, l'ancienne cuisine a été transformée en chambre avec dressing (à la place de l'ancien garde manger), tandis qu'une des chambres a pris des airs de suite parentale, grâce à une grande baignoire d'angle qui appelle à la relaxation.
Côté matières : du noyer pour les placards sur mesure de la cuisine qui se prolongent dans la salle à manger (avec une partie vestibule / manteaux et chaussures, une partie vaisselier, et une partie bibliothèque).
On a conservé et restauré le marbre rose existant dans la grande pièce de réception, ce qui a grandement contribué à guider les autres choix déco ; ailleurs, les moquettes et carrelages datés beiges ou bordeaux ont été enlevés et remplacés par du béton ciré blanc coco milk de chez Mercadier. Dans la salle de bain il est même monté aux murs dans la douche !
Pour réchauffer tout cela : de la laine bouclette, des tapis moelleux ou à l'esprit maison de vanaces, des fibres naturelles, du lin, de la gaze de coton, des tapisseries soixante huitardes chinées, des lampes vintage, et un esprit revendiqué "Mad men" mêlé à des vibrations douces de finca ou de maison grecque dans les Cyclades...
Steinmanufaktur Gross GmbHNaturstein hat eine besondere Wirkung, wenn er eine gewisse, massive Stärke zeigt. Auch bei Küchenarbeitsplatten ist dies möglich. Ist es technisch nicht möglich, massive Stücke einzubauen, kann die massive Optik durch Verkleben dünnerer Platten erreicht werden. Hier wurde die Wirkung des Blocks noch durch den flächenbündigen Einsatz von Spüle, Kochfeld und Steckdoseneinsatz unterstützt. Das Material Bateig Azul, einen spanischen Kalksandstein, könnte man fast für Beton halten, wenn nicht die fein geschliffene Oberfläche diesen speziellen warme Sandstein-Touch hätte.
