Joni Spear Interior DesignWhen the homeowners purchased this sprawling 1950’s rambler, the aesthetics would have discouraged all but the most intrepid. The décor was an unfortunate time capsule from the early 70s. And not in the cool way - in the what-were-they-thinking way. When unsightly wall-to-wall carpeting and heavy obtrusive draperies were removed, they discovered the room rested on a slab. Knowing carpet or vinyl was not a desirable option, they selected honed marble. Situated between the formal living room and kitchen, the family room is now a perfect spot for casual lounging in front of the television. The space proffers additional duty for hosting casual meals in front of the fireplace and rowdy game nights. The designer’s inspiration for a room resembling a cozy club came from an English pub located in the countryside of Cotswold. With extreme winters and cold feet, they installed radiant heat under the marble to achieve year 'round warmth. The time-honored, existing millwork was painted the same shade of British racing green adorning the adjacent kitchen's judiciously-chosen details. Reclaimed light fixtures both flanking the walls and suspended from the ceiling are dimmable to add to the room's cozy charms. Floor-to-ceiling windows on either side of the space provide ample natural light to provide relief to the sumptuous color palette. A whimsical collection of art, artifacts and textiles buttress the club atmosphere.

Pour ce projet les clients souhaitaient un salon plus chaleureux ainsi qu'une idée d'agencement pour leur cheminée.
Kimball Starr Interior DesignSan Francisco loft contemporary living room, which mixes a mid-century modern sofa with Moroccan influences in a patterned ottoman used as a coffee table, and teardrop-shaped brass pendant lamps. Full height gold curtains filter sunlight into the space and a yellow and green patterned rug anchors the living area in front of a wall-mounted TV over a mid-century sideboard used as media storage.
Kimball Starr Interior DesignWe lightened the space by replacing a solid wall with retracting opaque ones. You can just see a convertible bed closed on the left wall, allowing for more living space. In front, a Moroccan metal table and a pair of patterned slipper chairs provide additional seating. The guest bedroom wall now separates the open-plan dining space, featuring mid-century modern dining table and chairs in coordinating colors. Combining the Moroccan influence with mid-century style creates a fun atmosphere!

Le vert kaki et le bois brut s’harmonisent avec le paysage environnant, visible de part et d’autre de la pièce au travers de grandes fenêtres. Réalisés avec d’anciennes planches de bardage, les panneaux de bois apportent une ambiance chaleureuse dans cette pièce d’envergure et réchauffent l’espace cocooning auprès du poêle.
Quelques souvenirs évoquent le passé de cette ancienne bâtisse comme une carte de géographie, un encrier et l’ancien registre de l’école confié par les habitants du village aux nouveaux propriétaires.

Atelier NéOProposition 1 : Salle de Pause végétale et apaisante
Pour ce nouveau projet, ils veulent un joli coin café pour leur nouvelle salle de pause, car cette pièce avait une autre fonction avant. L’espace fait 38 m² et l’idée est de créer 3 zones distinctes : un coin café avec divers rangements et appareils électriques regroupés ensemble. Un espace pour manger avec de vraies grandes tables pour se réunir entre collègues. Chacun peut réchauffer son plat, prendre un café ou discuter entre collèges. De l’autre côté, un coin pour se détendre confortablement dans un univers cosy et apaisant.
Nous avons pu voir sur les précédents plans que les espaces étaient délimités par la couleur. L'espace fait 38 m² et l'idée est de créer 3 zones : un coin café (blue gray), un espace pour manger (great white) , et un coin pour se détendre (blue gray + 6 delignures chêne 200 / 20 cm à peindre). Le nuancier Farrow & Ball m’a permis de choisir la couleur blue gray qui est une couleur apaisante qui s’associe bien avec le bois et elle fait écho avec le végétal.
