UserLight gray walls provide a neutral backdrop for this traditional dining room’s inventive use of color. Floral draperies in shades of navy, turquoise and robin’s egg blue are accented by a navy band and hang from gold metal rods with clear glass finials. The light grey ceiling is adorned with a hand-painted design in two-toned metallic gold. A corner cabinet has been given a fresh coat of white paint to match the trim, while the interior is painted aqua showcasing the blue and white porcelain and antiqued mirror accessories adorning the shelves.
This elegant space is a study in blues, from the wool rug bearing a floral pattern in shades of light blue, baby blue and navy to the lacquered dining chairs, which have been upholstered in a modern tone-on-tone geometric velvet along with a navy chenille and accented with black nickel nails. The dining table is stained deep espresso and given a high gloss finish. Gold metallic accents on the table provide a touch of glam befitting the crown jewel of the room - a chandelier of clear glass orbs dangling from a gold frame. A pot at the center of the table is filled with purple hydrangeas and greenery adding another lush layer to the decadent design.

Like all the spaces we design, this room is totally about the people who live in it. True, the room started as a blank empty box, and while this couple likes architectural interest, the low ceiling was a challenge. Our solution was to add a wonderful niche – perfect to correct the uneven window wall AND indulge an architectural craving. Au courante grass cloth wallpaper and a modern rug are the perfect foil for the refreshing furnishings and appointments that span from 19th century to mid-century to modern.
Jennifer Stoner InteriorsThe dining room is to the right of the front door when you enter the home. We designed the trim detail on the ceiling, along with the layout and trim profile of the wainscoting throughout the foyer. The walls are covered in blue grass cloth wallpaper and the arched windows are framed by gorgeous coral faux silk drapery panels.
Sidney Sharkey Design, LLCThis dining room design features deep teal walls and white wainscoting below, creating a rich and dramatic contrast. The dark wood pedestal dining table is complemented by a combination of four wooden slatted side chairs and upholstered armchairs. The armchairs feature natural linen on the backs and brown leather seats, offering both comfort and style. A teal, charcoal, and caramel colored ikat area rug adds pattern and interest to the space. White linen drapes with inset embroidered trim are hung over natural woven shades, providing privacy while still allowing natural light to filter into the room. Together, these elements create a welcoming and stylish dining room design that is perfect for hosting large gatherings and intimate dinners alike.
Ecostruct LLCBy mimicking the kitchen cabinet/West Elm shelving dynamic in the dining area, we were really able to tie the two spaces together. The clients had an existing antique pine dining table that had been poorly refinished one too many times. We stripped the peeling layers of polyurethane off and refinished with wax to give a very natural look without losing the age lines and character of the table.
