“We wanted to be able to use the space (prep, cook, clean) without interference from family members in this walk-through galley kitchen. At the same time, we wanted to keep the aesthetic light, airy, clean, and minimal, almost making the kitchen cabinets disappear,” Alexandra says.
She concludes: “Overall, we thought that by choosing IKEA cabinets we would end up with a highly functional kitchen that would fit our design requirements, our budget, and our time frame.”

Forming part of a larger extension and renovation, the client’s desire for their new kitchen was to create a visual centrepiece for the home that made an impactful statement whilst still remaining welcoming, relaxed and family friendly. As avid entertainers, it was a priority that the kitchen had a semi-commercial feel, was well equipped with high-grade appliances, durable surfaces and designated work zones to facilitate catering for large parties and events.
Both partners have travelled extensively to far corners of the world collecting beautiful things, there was a natural desire for the space to reflect their global style and layer a mix of sentimental and bohemian inspired pieces from all over the world.
Amy J. Greving - ArtistThis kitchen island is the balance for a contemporary look. I've taken an antique work bench, refurbished it and poured a concrete counter for the top. The concrete although very smooth looks as though I took a chunk from a sidewalk,, polished it, and reused it. I strive to make all my concrete appear natural.
