Design Boss Online | Radical Home TransformationsModel Thin Live/Work Townhouse
Model thin can also apply to space plans. This coastal Newport live/work townhouse had a very narrow profile and it created some layout challenges for the homeowner. Her partner is a gourmet chef and entertains often so he wanted the island to host cocktail making events with friends in easy conversation distance while he worked his kitchen magic. We used blue macabus quartzite for the counters and the client is in love with the finished product!

Build TeamThis open plan space is split into segments using the long and narrow kitchen island and the dining table. It is clear to see how each of these spaces can have different uses.
Breathe Design StudioCompleted in 2020, this large 3,500 square foot bungalow underwent a major facelift from the 1990s finishes throughout the house. We worked with the homeowners who have two sons to create a bright and serene forever home. The project consisted of one kitchen, four bathrooms, den, and game room. We mixed Scandinavian and mid-century modern styles to create these unique and fun spaces.

ReVision Design/RemodelingEliminating a window and reconfiguring the appliance locations opened up this galley kitchen without requiring any wall removals. The homeowners wanted a more modern look, so we designed the space around the orange Bertazzoni range. Sea Pointe Design & RemodelStunning quartz countertops with waterfall overflow effect contrasts beautifully with the maple cabinetry and bold shiplap hood. The hood was custom designed by our Designer Janna and manufactured by our very own craftsmen at Sea Pointe Construction.
Kirk Riley DesignThis original 1950's kitchen with a pink backsplash and pale blue appliances needed a fresh take. Hardwood floors were installed to match the existing wood on the first floor. Bright white quartz countertops and a white backsplash created using both flat/glossy and matte/raised hex tiles created a textured flower pattern. Slab front cabinets in a mixture of wood and white tackled the storage issues. The pop of orange of the Bertazonni oven is the counter balance to the cool fresh wall color and tons of natural light. A beautiful, functional space to create healthy meals for her family was paramount to our client. We created this fresh space by dropping a touch of Palm Springs into the Pacific Northwest.
MMI DesignMMI Design was hired to assist our client with with an extensive kitchen, living room, and dining remodel. The original floor plan was overly compartmentalized and the kitchen may have been the tiniest kitchen on the planet! By taking out a wall which separated the spaces and stealing square footage from the under-utilized dining room, MMI was able to transform the space into a light, bright and open floor plan. The new kitchen has room for multiple cooks with all the bells and whistles of modern day kitchens, and the living spaces are large enough to entertain friends and family. We are especially proud of this project, as we believe it is not only beautiful but also transformative in terms of the new livability of the spaces.
Alison Giese InteriorsThis kitchen was updated with a fresh, symmetrical floorplan that allowed for tons of storage, and an eye-catching cabinet color palette. Warm fixtures and finishes complemented the warm, inviting vibe.
Cathie Hong InteriorsThis project was a complete gut remodel of the owner's childhood home. They demolished it and rebuilt it as a brand-new two-story home to house both her retired parents in an attached ADU in-law unit, as well as her own family of six. Though there is a fire door separating the ADU from the main house, it is often left open to create a truly multi-generational home. For the design of the home, the owner's one request was to create something timeless, and we aimed to honor that.
Dreyer ArchitectureThis open plan kitchen / living / dining room features a large south facing window seat and cantilevered cast concrete central kitchen island.
