Balestri ArchitectsThis renovation project updates an existing New York 1920s apartment with a modern sensibility.
Replacing the cellular pre-war layout of the central spaces with a built-in walnut credenza and white lacquer side board effectively opens the plan to create a unified and spacious living area. The back side of the full-height dining room side-board screens views from the entrance foyer. The modern design of the new built-ins at center of the space is balanced by perimeter radiator covers and a full-height bookshelf which work with the period trim detail.
The dining room features a folding translucent glass partition that provides separation from the kitchen, or can be completely stowed away to create an open kitchen that connects with the rest of the space.
The new kitchen has been relocated to open directly onto the dining room, and features a long, solid mahogany island serving counter. An operable white lacquer and translucent glass partition pulls out from behind a concealed panel to separate the two rooms, providing flexibility for both casual and formal arrangements. The relocation of the kitchen allows for the addition of a small private study, and a powder room, both absent from the original layout.

Howells Architecture + DesignAfter a house fire destroyed much of the interior of this SE Portland home, the owners took the opportunity to upgrade the kitchen. The result is a clean-lined, but historically sensitive renovation of this Craftsman home.

Natalie Davies Interior DesignCurrently living overseas, the owners of this stunning Grade II Listed stone cottage in the heart of the North York Moors set me the brief of designing the interiors. Renovated to a very high standard by the previous owner and a totally blank canvas, the brief was to create contemporary warm and welcoming interiors in keeping with the building’s history. To be used as a holiday let in the short term, the interiors needed to be high quality and comfortable for guests whilst at the same time, fulfilling the requirements of my clients and their young family to live in upon their return to the UK.

Peter B. Rice & CoThe kitchen, entry, and living room is all contained at the front of the house facing the ocean. The custom painted (Benjamin Moore White Dove) shaker cabinets were built and finished in our shop. A bench seat with storage was integrated into the island. Pine was used to cover the entire cathedral ceiling. A White Oak wide plank engineered floor was installed throughout the home.

Shaker style cabinetry, swinging cafe doors to the caterer’s kitchen and intricate detail on the wooden vent hood set a tone for being on trend without being trendy.
A chef’s dream, this kitchen has all the bells and whistles—like an oversized island, expansive side-by-side freezer and refrigerator, dual dishwashers to beverage center, slide out dog bowls, pop out steps to access upper cabinets, filtered water station, LED lighting and hidden outlets in the upper cabinets.
This home has left nothing to be desired.
