Arcata Cabinet & Design CompanyNarrow kitchens have no fear! With a great designer, great product and motivated homeowners, you can achieve dream kitchen status. Moving the sink to the corner and the big refrigerator towards the end of the kitchen created lots of continuous counter space and storage. Lots of drawers and roll-outs created a space for everything - even a super lazy susan in the corner. The result is a compact kitchen with a big personality.

Bilotta Kitchen & HomeThis kitchen was designed by Bilotta senior designer, Randy O’Kane, CKD with (and for) interior designer Blair Harris. The apartment is located in a turn-of-the-20th-century Manhattan brownstone and the kitchen (which was originally at the back of the apartment) was relocated to the front in order to gain more light in the heart of the home. Blair really wanted the cabinets to be a dark blue color and opted for Farrow & Ball’s “Railings”. In order to make sure the space wasn’t too dark, Randy suggested open shelves in natural walnut vs. traditional wall cabinets along the back wall. She complemented this with white crackled ceramic tiles and strips of LED lights hidden under the shelves, illuminating the space even more. The cabinets are Bilotta’s private label line, the Bilotta Collection, in a 1” thick, Shaker-style door with walnut interiors. The flooring is oak in a herringbone pattern and the countertops are Vermont soapstone. The apron-style sink is also made of soapstone and is integrated with the countertop. Blair opted for the trending unlacquered brass hardware from Rejuvenation’s “Massey” collection which beautifully accents the blue cabinetry and is then repeated on both the “Chagny” Lacanche range and the bridge-style Waterworks faucet.
The space was designed in such a way as to use the island to separate the primary cooking space from the living and dining areas. The island could be used for enjoying a less formal meal or as a plating area to pass food into the dining area.
Coastal Home Design StudioAn adorable but worn down beach bungalow gets a complete remodel and an added roof top deck for ocean views. The design cues for this home started with a love for the beach and a Vetrazzo counter top! Vintage appliances, pops of color, and geometric shapes drive the design and add interest. A comfortable and laid back vibe create a perfect family room. Several built-ins were designed for much needed added storage. A large roof top deck was engineered and added several square feet of living space. A metal spiral staircase and railing system were custom built for the deck. Ocean views and tropical breezes make this home a fabulous beach bungalow.
MA Peterson Design Build, Inc.Tthe space was opened up to provide generous amounts of light, and wall-to-wall windows and doors were added to create one great dining experience and to allow the outside beauty to come inside. Eyes are immediately drawn to the expansive kitchen island. The custom island was painted a vintage grey with red undertones and distressed to create the perfect look. Throughout the kitchen the custom cabinets and drawers, made by Trademark Wood Products, were painted a soft, warm white. The ends of the island were custom set at the exact height for our homeowner who enjoys baking. The decision to keep the granite honed countertops lighter on the perimeter was made in order to keep the island as a bold statement. Along the outer custom wall of cabinetry incorporated a stylish and functional prep kitchen allowed our homeowners, who also love to entertain, a more useful and expansive space. After doubling the size of our homeowner’s preceding kitchen and adding custom features, baking, entertaining, or a casual night will never be the same as they overlook the backyard views of Minnehaha Creek.

Studio DearbornA hip young family moving from Boston tackled an enormous makeover of an antique colonial revival home in downtown Larchmont. The kitchen area was quite spacious but benefitted from a small bump out for a banquette and additional windows. Navy blue island and tall cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen blue is balanced by crisp white (Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace) cabinetry on the perimeter. The mid-century inspired suspended fireplace adds warmth and style to the kitchen. A tile covered range hood blends the ventilation into the walls. Brushed brass hardware by Lewis Dolan in a contemporary T-bar shape offer clean lines in a warm metallic tone.

Anouska Tamony Designs- Architecture & InteriorsIn the kitchen, wall cabinets were replaced with open shelving and the custom in-frame, shaker style cabinets painted a striking cornflower blue to pick up hue in the handcrafted Delft tiles. Appliances were integrated and underfloor heating installed beneath the Belgian blue limestone creating a thoroughly modern and practical space with the charm of a traditional country kitchen.
