Kitchen Studio MontereyThis darling beach cottage in Pacific Grove's old Chautauqua retreat area was in need of some tender loving care. The homeowners chose a green/grey distressed cabinet finish and warm wood floors juxtaposed by light grey walls, polished poured concrete counters and Spanish wall tiles. Urbo bespoke kitchen in Driftwood veneer and an interior Rustic Oak painted and limed drawer box, with an industrial chic, polished grey concrete work surface. The mirror wall has a bespoke integrated mirror TV by Reflectv.
Carolyn Robbins Site Design Fragments of tile, glass, pottery and old coins collected by the owners for years in their travels was used on the ledge tops, backsplash and floor inset channel. The driftwood stains and jewel tones used in the adjacent family room, accent the space. Red leather seating is piped in the green from the handprinted tabletop.All of the cabinet doors were built of various designs, using screening and old construction lath.

In a minimalist setting, “concrete” always presents a strong presences in the room. In the handle-less CONCRETE-A kitchens
from LEICHT , the dark grey furniture with a surface of genuine concrete (brasilia), provide an impressive visual centre. Island
unit and cupboard run are offset by white tall units, integrated in the wall. The island unit rises freely into the room between the
generous window surfaces, almost floating above the light floor. An asymmetric, almost playful, wall shelf unit loosens the calm arrangement of the handle-less floor units. The 5 mm thick worktop of hot-rolled steel provides an extremely elegant contrast to the concrete surfaces of the kitchen fronts.
