Matarozzi Pelsinger BuildersRemodel and addition of a single-family rustic log cabin. This project was a fun challenge of preserving the original structure’s character while revitalizing the space and fusing it with new, more modern additions. Every surface in this house was attended to, creating a unified and contemporary, yet cozy, mountain aesthetic. This was accomplished through preserving and refurbishing the existing log architecture and exposed timber ceilings and blending new log veneer assemblies with the original log structure. Finish carpentry was paramount in handcrafting new floors, custom cabinetry, and decorative metal stairs to interact with the existing building. The centerpiece of the house is a two-story tall, custom stone and metal patinaed, double-sided fireplace that meets the ceiling and scribes around the intricate log purlin structure seamlessly above. Three sides of this house are surrounded by ponds and streams. Large wood decks and a cedar hot tub were constructed to soak in the Teton views. Particular effort was made to preserve and improve landscaping that is frequently enjoyed by moose, elk, and bears that also live in the area.

In addition to the cabinetry, the round custom butcher block cabinet, quilted millwork and hand forged ironworks, the brass cabinetry hardware pulls and knobs, swivel barstools, both iron pendants with black linen fabric lined in gold silk shades over the island and the three iron and wood light sconces placed high above the sink window were also designed and made in my custom work rooms south of the border which allowed for us to create and exceptional one-of-a-kind design AND high-end quality product for our client at a fraction of the cost in comparison as to if this design had been produced in Southern California.

Caliber WoodcraftBEFORE PIC: This large kitchen in Coto de Caza, CA was falling apart. Heavy storage units attached to the pantry doors had caused one of the doors to separate and fall off, and the space inside the pantry was poorly designed. We removed the existing doors, hinges, drawers, glides, and moldings, and began rebuilding the kitchen cabinetry. The pantry was redesigned to maximize the space with five roll out drawers and a partition for brooms and aprons. The space under the built in microwave was converted to drawers, and the set of base cabinets under the cooktop converted to bank upon bank of easy to access, usable drawer space. A waste roll out system was installed with two 50qt. waste containers. The island had been cobbled together around the wine fridge, so we tore out ineffectively built boxes and replaced with cabinets to give a cohesive, clean look. The cabinets were then refaced with non-porous super matte thermofoil, which is extremely durable and easy to clean. New dovetailed birch drawer boxes are installed on Blum soft close glides, and the doors on Blum soft close hinges. This hardware is top of the line and carries a Lifetime Warranty.
