Referred by past clients, the homeowners of this Glen Ellyn project were in need of an update and improvement in functionality for their kitchen, mudroom and laundry room.
The spacious kitchen had a great layout, but benefitted from a new island, countertops, hood, backsplash, hardware, plumbing and lighting fixtures. The main focal point is now the premium hand-crafted CopperSmith hood along with a dramatic tiered chandelier over the island. In addition, painting the wood beadboard ceiling and staining the existing beams darker helped lighten the space while the amazing depth and variation only available in natural stone brought the entire room together.
For the mudroom and laundry room, choosing complimentary paint colors and charcoal wave wallpaper brought depth and coziness to this project. The result is a timeless design for this Glen Ellyn family.

MOTIF Design Solutions, LLCThe kitchen is a hub for the home. Because we know this, we removed walls in the original kitchen to open it up to the living and dining room. These very social homeowners could not host parties and entertain their friends and family well in the original galley style layout. A love for cooking inspired the design of the wall above the range and adjacent to the windows. The cabinets were built by hand by the previous owner who was a professional carpenter. In the interest of honoring his life, we kept the boxes and reconfigured the layout while adding some new custom touches that look like they were always there. The dining room is now adjacent to the kitchen and makes intimate dinners comfortable and convenient with the luxurious dining bench and velvet teal green upholstered chairs.
The Renovation BrokerHouse designed remotely for our client in Hong Kong moving back to Australia. Job designed using Pytha and all correspondence was Zoom and email, job all Designed & managed by The Renovation Broker ready for client to move in when they flew in from Hong Kong.
Western Custom CabinetryDual island kitchen we did for a newly built Zian Home. It features flat panel, full overlay doors, a custom hood, and stained white oak accents.
Kitcheart LLCThis was a kitchen renovation of a mid-century modern home in Peoria, Illinois. The galley kitchen needed more storage, professional cooking appliances, and more connection with the living spaces on the main floor. Kira Kyle, owner of Kitcheart, designed and built-in custom cabinetry with a gray stain finish to highlight the grain of the hickory. Hardware from Pottery Barn in brass. Appliances form Wolf, Vent-A-Hood, and Kitchen Aid. Reed glass was added to the china cabinets. The cabinet above the Kitchen Aid mixer was outfitted with baking storage. Pull-outs and extra deep drawers made storage more accessible. New Anderson windows improved the view. Storage more than doubled without increasing the footprint, and an arched opening to the family room allowed the cook to connect with the rest of the family.
