YAMINI DESIGNSA family friendly powder room renovation in a lake front home with a farmhouse vibe and easy to maintain finishes.
Plain & PoshThe homeowners wanted to improve the layout and function of their tired 1980’s bathrooms. The master bath had a huge sunken tub that took up half the floor space and the shower was tiny and in small room with the toilet. We created a new toilet room and moved the shower to allow it to grow in size. This new space is far more in tune with the client’s needs. The kid’s bath was a large space. It only needed to be updated to today’s look and to flow with the rest of the house. The powder room was small, adding the pedestal sink opened it up and the wallpaper and ship lap added the character that it needed
Robin Davis InteriorsThe powder room is really large for just a sink and toilet and its always the best place to get a little creative and crazy- its where you can take chances. The client fell in love with this retro-inspired wallpaper with hexagon shapes that mimic the white hex tiles on the floor. Its really the only color happening in the space so going bold felt possible.
Habitat RocheContemporary Powder Room: The use of a rectangular tray ceiling, full height wall mirror, and wall to wall louvered paneling create the illusion of spaciousness in this compact powder room. A sculptural stone panel provides a focal point while camouflaging the toilet beyond.
Finishes include Walnut wood louvers from Rimadesio, Paloma Limestone, Oak herringbone flooring from Listone Giordano, Sconces by Allied Maker. Pedestal sink by Falper.
THE VELVET UNDERGROUNDCasa Nevado, en una pequeña localidad de Extremadura:
La restauración del tejado y la incorporación de cocina y baño a las estancias de la casa, fueron aprovechadas para un cambio radical en el uso y los espacios de la vivienda.
El bajo techo se ha restaurado con el fin de activar toda su superficie, que estaba en estado ruinoso, y usado como almacén de material de ganadería, para la introducción de un baño en planta alta, habitaciones, zona de recreo y despacho. Generando un espacio abierto tipo Loft abierto.
La cubierta de estilo de teja árabe se ha restaurado, aprovechando todo el material antiguo, donde en el bajo techo se ha dispuesto de una combinación de materiales, metálicos y madera.
En planta baja, se ha dispuesto una cocina y un baño, sin modificar la estructura de la casa original solo mediante la apertura y cierre de sus accesos. Cocina con ambas entradas a comedor y salón, haciendo de ella un lugar de tránsito y funcionalmente acorde a ambas estancias.
Fachada restaurada donde se ha podido devolver las figuras geométricas que antaño se habían dispuesto en la pared de adobe.
El patio revitalizado, se le han realizado pequeñas intervenciones tácticas para descargarlo, así como remates en pintura para que aparente de mayores dimensiones. También en el se ha restaurado el baño exterior, el cual era el original de la casa.
Debbie Cahill Turner Design, LLCAn extensive remodel was needed to bring this home back to its glory. A previous remodel had taken all of the character out of the home. The original kitchen was disconnected from other parts of the home. The new kitchen open up to the other spaces while maintaining the home’s integratory. The kitchen is now the center of the home with a large island for gathering. The bathrooms were reconfigured with custom tiles and vanities. We selected classic finishes with modern touches throughout each space.
Aniko Nicholson DesignLet me walk you through how this unique powder room layout was transformed into a charming space filled with vintage charm:
First, I took a good look at the layout of the powder room to see what I was working with. I wanted to keep any special features while making improvements where needed.
Next, I added vintage-inspired fixtures like a pedestal sink, faucet with exposed drain (key detail) along with beautiful lighting to give the space that old hotel charm. I made sure to choose pieces with intricate details and finishes that matched the vintage vibe.
Then, I picked out some statement wallpaper with bold, vintage patterns to really make the room pop. Think damask, floral, or geometric designs in rich colours that transport you back in time; hello William Morris.
Of course, no vintage-inspired space is complete without antique accessories. I added mirrors, sconces, and artwork with ornate frames and unique details to enhance the room's vintage charm.
To add warmth and texture, I chose luxurious textiles like hand towels with interesting detail. These soft, plush fabrics really make the space feel cozy and inviting.
For lighting, I installed vintage-inspired fixtures such as a gun metal pendant light along with sophisticated sconces topped with delicate cream shades to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I made sure they had dimmable bulbs so you can adjust the lighting to suit your mood.
To enhance the vintage charm even further, I added architectural details like wainscoting, shiplap and crown molding. These details really elevate the space and give it that old-world feel.
I also incorporated unique artifacts and vintage finds, like cowbells and vintage signage, to add character and interest to the room. These items were perfect for displaying in our cabinet as decorative accents.
Finally, I upgraded the hardware with vintage-inspired designs to complement the overall aesthetic of the space. I chose pieces with modern detailing and aged finishes for an authentic vintage look.
And there you have it! I was able to transform a unique powder room layout into a charming space reminiscent of an old hotel.
Eclectic Designs LLCA powder bathroom is a great place to Go Bold! While it might seem counterintuitive, this larger, darker wall tile with fewer grout lines & reflective qualities, actually opened up this small space. The transition of movement & color, from paper to tile, was chosen with great care. Take a Seat!
Thyme & Place Design LLCThe clients wanted to take their old powder room from Drab to Fab with some old fashioned hollywood glam. Millwork was used on the lower walls to create recessed panels which like the crown molding at the ceiling were painted with black lacquer. The upper half of the walls are covered in a black and honey bronze grass cloth in a geometric pattern from York Wallcoverings. A fun and whimsical mirror from Wildwood Lamps balances the pattern in the paper. Floating bubble crystal pendants from Hubbardton Forge add a luminescent glow to the space. The floors are tiled in an espresso colored "wood" with a bronze greek key accent from Versace Collection through Wayne Tile of Ramsey. Clean lined white fixtures are reflected in the high gloss paint. Finally a custom faux painted ceiling gold and bronze top it all off in style.
