As a rental unit, this apartment came with peachy yellow walls and tan carpeting. We started this project with a fresh coat of paint throughout, giving the space a more modern color palette. Next up was to define the different spaces (dining, living, and work areas) within a large open floorplan. We achieved this through the use of rugs and strategic furniture placements to keep the different spaces open but separate.

This Master Bedroom was given a calming color palette of blues and yellows, contrasted with bits of black. The custom bed frame was made to clear the windows at either side of the bed. Additional storage was added by repeating the built-in drawers that existed in this 1920's era home so that they are on both sides of the bed.

This fun, teen space has everything a girl could want: chic storage, eclectic accessories and tons of style! Accent pieces in soft, muted colors bring cheery life to the neutral palette. Varying shades of pastels were used throughout this soft space to create a calm, relaxing effect.

The watery Venetian damask from Zoffany sets the mood for this Pied a Terre bedroom. We wrapped the room in a color pulled from the paper, even the doors and moldings are in this color. The wallpaper softens the hard lines of the industrial style metal bed from CB2. To purists the placement of the refurbished Mid Century nightstands with the wallpaper may seem inappropriate, but I think the nightstands are a tailored response to the exuberance of the paper. Also, if you watch TCM on a regular basis you would see such mixes all the time. The Chinese Mirror and Japanese prints reflect my client's interest in Asia and add another layer to the mix.

THE INNER HOUSE
APARTMENT BERLIN VII
