Home Expressions Interiors by Laura Bloom Inc.
Approx. 1800 square foot basement where client wanted to break away from their more formal main level. Requirements included a TV area, bar, game room, guest bedroom and bath. Having previously remolded the main level of this home; Home Expressions Interiors was contracted to design and build a space that is kid friendly and equally comfortable for adult entertaining. Mercury glass pendant fixtures coupled with rustic beams and gray stained wood planks are the highlights of the bar area. Heavily grouted brick walls add character and warmth to the back bar and media area. Gray walls with lighter hued ceilings along with simple craftsman inspired columns painted crisp white maintain a fresh and airy feel. Wood look porcelain tile helps complete a space that is durable and ready for family fun.

Create sufficient headroom.
For most codes, 7-ft. 6-in. finished ceilings are the minimum. If that’s not what you have, you must either raise the house or lower the basement floor. Either approach is a big undertaking. Lowering the floor typically involves supporting the house, removing an existing slab, excavating, and augmenting or replacing all or part of the foundation and drainage system. Raising a house is a big project, too, but, in general, it’s the better strategy because it creates more height for windows, and thus allows more natural light to enter the space. If you also must replace a failing foundation (which requires supporting the house), then your choice is even clearer: Up she goes

RR Redesign
This is the 4th space that we have designed for this great couple. I was elated to find out that they have a new member to their family and they needed help designing their new family space! Their unfinished walkout basement was the logical space to remodel. We maximized every inch of this unfinished space. Our clients goal was to add additional living space and full bathroom- mission accomplished! I worked with my client and their contractor designing and space planning. The results are: two new home offices, a workout space, closed storage area, kids space ,lounging area and full bath! The beautifully designed Pottery barn furniture, Sherwin Williams whites on the walls, modern farmhouse accents and minimalist decor allows for this family to use every inch of their home.. The additional usable and beautifully designed square footage is priceless.

In this basement redesign, the primary goal was to create a livable space for each member of the family... transitioning what was unorganized storage into a beautiful and functional living area. My goal was create easy access storage, as well as closet space for everyone in the family’s athletic gear. We also wanted a space that could accommodate a great theatre, home gym, pool table area, and wine cellar.
