This cocoon of a Boho bedroom has a secret: the queen size platform bed is partially built over the raised foundation of the main house, allowing us to steal a little space to make the room two feet wider. The other part of the bed provides three huge storage drawers below. I was thrilled to discover that the college age occupant-to-be had always wanted a platform bed. Mission accomplished!
To save space, the closet was also built into the raised foundation level of the house, but this is hidden by a barn door slider, so no one is the wiser.
It was requested that I design the bedroom to accommodate the existing furniture from this young woman's former bedroom. Her style is Boho, and we did it to the max! With two walls in moody dark purple and the other two in lighter lavender, the space is cozy and cheerful, youthful and contemporary, with a bit of shabby chic thrown in for good measure. Colorful patchwork pillows mix with geometrics, florals, and stripes to add to the fun.

A nice young couple contacted us from Brazil to decorate their newly acquired apartment. We schedule a meeting through Skype and from the very first moment we had a very good feeling this was going to be a nice project and people to work with. We exchanged some ideas, comments, images and we explained to them how we were used to worked with clients overseas and how important was to keep communication opened.
They main concerned was to find a solution for a giant structure leaning column in the main room, as well as how to make the kitchen, dining and living room work together in one considerably small space with few dimensions.
Whether it was a holiday home or a place to rent occasionally, the requirements were simple, Scandinavian style, accent colors and low investment, and so we did it. Once the proposal was signed, we got down to work and in two months the apartment was ready to welcome them with nice scented candles, flowers and delicious Mojitos from their spectacular view at the 41th floor of one of Miami's most modern and tallest building.

CKM home design
CKM Home Design took the sleek, stark space from a blank canvas to a warm mixed media masterpiece by adding layers of texture, color and light.
The client, a fashionable and sophisticated 22-year-old aspiring actress was looking for a warm, glamorous aesthetic that melded with the building’s contemporary vibe and architecture. The space included many typical NYC apartment nuances requiring some creative design strategies and elements: one large open space living/dining area, awkward narrow nook that needed a purpose and some personality but also had some impressive design elements to maximize including the vast oversized windows and high ceilings.

The bold, black and white wallpaper gives a distinctive flair to this guest bedroom. The headboard was oversized to add drama to the room, and the zebra rug was a nod to the homeowner's beloved brother, who loved animals.

Along one of the Mission District’s most cosmopolitan blocks, an Italianate home is expanded with two substantial yet stealthy additions. Peeking out above the restored front façade, a new third story bedroom level hints at the comprehensively transformed spaces within. The project integrates modern design, bountiful natural light sources, high efficiency systems, and repurposed building materials with new and original hand-crafted detailing.
