This client loves to entertain and wanted to retain her fine antique furniture, silver, and china while giving the dining room a new look.

What was once a dark thoroughfare is now a light and vibrant passage that unites each area in this home.

This room used to be the son's bedroom, off the main living room. We completely redesigned the space planning of the flat, relocating the son in the very large ex-dining room, split into a bedroom for him and a study/guest bedroom off the living room, leaving this bright room, not only to open onto the balcony but to the main living room without partition. A much more cohesive and inviting entertaining and gathering space.

Balancing the elements of cool and warm, reflective and patinaed is the secret to success in this Modern Showhouse, held at the Washington DC Design Center. Stainless finishes on the table, sideboard and stools are contrasted by the warmth, of the antique Asian armoire, the upholstered wood chairs and the thick wool rug. This project was featured in Metropolitan Home Magazine and the Washington Post.

Located on the flat of Beacon Hill, this iconic building is rich in history and in detail. Constructed in 1828 as one of the first buildings in a series of row houses, it was in need of a major renovation to improve functionality and to restore as well as re-introduce charm.Originally designed by noted architect Asher Benjamin, the renovation was respectful of his early work. “What would Asher have done?” was a common refrain during design decision making, given today’s technology and tools.
