On a day to day basis, it's just a place to watch television and chill When company is over though, it metamorphosis into a sophisticated and elegant gathering place. Shea Studio Interiors, IncMy client wanted some wall units built in so she could display some art pottery that she collects. Her husband plays many musical instruments. Instead of the "same ole, same ole" why not create art with the built-in to house the art displayed? The beautiful guitar was trimmed with abalone and turquoise and was beautiful and I thought it should be seen and admired so I created a guitar shaped niche with bookmatched grain surround and spotlight. The shelves were various sizes and shapes to accomodate a variety of artifacts. A couple of feature shapes were also lit.
Design MattersThe view of the family room is open to the outdoors and the kitchen area. Bringing in a current gray colored cabinetry, silver gray custom sized sectional with a whimsical circular patterned ottoman and matching throw pillows, along with my custom designed glass and metal rolling coffee table bring uber function for this family home.
RejuvenationThe Hollywood, a large Art Deco style pendant. Make a statement by using it in multiples. Shown here with skyscraper shades.
BGI DesignThis view of the grand piano shows the beautiful tones of the wood and the dramatic impact it gives to the space. We carefully blended the wood tones of the furniture we added to the room to create continuity, and added custom drapery and a hand-tufted wool rug in shades of cream and gold.

Ekman Design StudioThis elegant expression of a modern Colorado style home combines a rustic regional exterior with a refined contemporary interior. The client's private art collection is embraced by a combination of modern steel trusses, stonework and traditional timber beams. Generous expanses of glass allow for view corridors of the mountains to the west, open space wetlands towards the south and the adjacent horse pasture on the east.
