The home is accessed via staggered short flights of Chicago common brick clad steps, through a Chicago common brick arch with custom provencal-inspired wrought iron gate, and into the Entry Courtyard enclosed by the main residence, guest casita, and 6 foot McDowell Mountain Ranch stone clad walls.

Tom Meaney Architect, AIAThis 14,000sf estate sits on four acres in Montecito overlooking the green rolling hills and ocean beyond. This architectural style was inspired by the villas around Lake Como in northern Italy. The formal central part of the home contains the formal rooms, while the less formal areas are reflected in simpler detailing, more rustic materials, and more irregular building forms. The property terraces towards the view and includes a koi pond, pool with cabana, greenhouse, bocce court, and a small vineyard.
Pineapple House Interior DesignBoth functional and decorative pools are constructed on home’s three sides. Pool’s edges run just slightly under the home’s perimeter, and from most angles, the residence appears to be floating. The rear patio’s limestone columns have electric roll-down screens to allow outdoor living without insects.
Stonelace DesignsOriginally, the exterior of the Napa ranch residence was a standard knocked down stucco finish. We covered over the entire exterior of the house with a natural plaster product that has been made in Italy for centuries, known as Rialto or Vero. This product is a combination of slaked lime mixed with 60% reconstituted crushed marble dust. Quarried from the legendary Carrara marble mines. The finish itself is a vertically combed striated texture embedded into the plaster. While it cures, a transparent group of patinas are applied to the stone-like plaster substance to create a look of an aged villa.
Classic Home ImprovementsThis Rancho Bernardo front entrance is enclosed with a partial wall with stucco matching the exterior of the home and gate. The extended roof patio cover protects the front pathway from the elements with an area for seating with a beautiful view od the rest of the hardscape. www.choosechi.com.
