Kowalske Kitchen & BathThis exciting ‘whole house’ project began when a couple contacted us while house shopping. They found a 1980s contemporary colonial in Delafield with a great wooded lot on Nagawicka Lake. The kitchen and bathrooms were outdated but it had plenty of space and potential.
We toured the home, learned about their design style and dream for the new space. The goal of this project was to create a contemporary space that was interesting and unique. Above all, they wanted a home where they could entertain and make a future.
At first, the couple thought they wanted to remodel only the kitchen and master suite. But after seeing Kowalske Kitchen & Bath’s design for transforming the entire house, they wanted to remodel it all. The couple purchased the home and hired us as the design-build-remodel contractor.
First Floor Remodel
The biggest transformation of this home is the first floor. The original entry was dark and closed off. By removing the dining room walls, we opened up the space for a grand entry into the kitchen and dining room. The open-concept kitchen features a large navy island, blue subway tile backsplash, bamboo wood shelves and fun lighting.
On the first floor, we also turned a bathroom/sauna into a full bathroom and powder room. We were excited to give them a ‘wow’ powder room with a yellow penny tile wall, floating bamboo vanity and chic geometric cement tile floor.
Second Floor Remodel
The second floor remodel included a fireplace landing area, master suite, and turning an open loft area into a bedroom and bathroom.
In the master suite, we removed a large whirlpool tub and reconfigured the bathroom/closet space. For a clean and classic look, the couple chose a black and white color pallet. We used subway tile on the walls in the large walk-in shower, a glass door with matte black finish, hexagon tile on the floor, a black vanity and quartz counters.
Flooring, trim and doors were updated throughout the home for a cohesive look.
dRemodelingTying into the industrial red brick crane stove and wooden lintel mantle next to the main kitchen space, these cage industrial pendant lights reflect on the homes historic past and core values. Additionally, their soft incandescent provides a great touch to the intimacy of the space!

Petoskey Kitchen and Bath - Designs By DawnThis is a 5,000 sqft home we recently finished in Manasota Key, FL. This project took 3 years from start to completeion. We like to call this, Tuscan LUX. There are many traditional Florida home elements, but yet with a touch of elegance that makes you feel like you are at the Ritz.
Gail Green InteriorsA new fascia wall in front of the existing windows is built, housing the authentic 1920 portholes, salvaged from a ship. The windows preclude the unsightly outside street view while permitting light to stream through. It also evokes a sense of mystery as to suggest perhaps some unknown reality lying beyond. The gears faucet is unique and mirrors the industrial and streamline metaphors of the time. In addition, a brass rail is used as a curtain rod, with Greek key gimp used as ties to hold the curtains up above the top of the windows.
Simply Home DecoratingOur clients hired us to completely renovate and furnish their PEI home — and the results were transformative. Inspired by their natural views and love of entertaining, each space in this PEI home is distinctly original yet part of the collective whole.
We used color, patterns, and texture to invite personality into every room: the fish scale tile backsplash mosaic in the kitchen, the custom lighting installation in the dining room, the unique wallpapers in the pantry, powder room and mudroom, and the gorgeous natural stone surfaces in the primary bathroom and family room.
We also hand-designed several features in every room, from custom furnishings to storage benches and shelving to unique honeycomb-shaped bar shelves in the basement lounge.
The result is a home designed for relaxing, gathering, and enjoying the simple life as a couple.
Main Street Kitchens at BotellosThis gorgeous kitchen in Popponesset on Cape Cod offers coastal sophistication and elegance. The dynamic blue granite counters and backsplash, along with Grabill Maple Heritage "Botello White" custom cabinetry, black cabinet pulls, and glass pendants gives it a modern edge.
