L/L Design - Build - FurnishOur client purchased this home and realized he was never going to use the formal dining room, and one thing that I highly believe in is we should use our homes the way we want to live in them… Thus his dream of a wine room was soon underway.
We spent many months planning, designing, revising the designs, to make sure this investment was going to be exactly what he wanted.
The results truly tell the story. No detail was left unfinished: from the hand stained walnut cabinets, to the precise countertop ogee edging seamlessly flowing into the walnut cabinet edging. Custom trim at the HVAC ceiling vents as well as the wine cooler vent at the toe kick. Dimmable lighting all around, speakers system, optic clear glass doors with custom family name etching.
This is truly a meeting place, entertaining paradise, and remarkable home wine cellar.
Charles River Wine CellarsAn instant classic…a custom radius ‘Old World’ door welcomes the owners and guests to this one of a kind French Limestone wine cellar. LED accent lighting showcases the wine bottles flanking the center niche, creating a look and feel that has become a signature of Charles River Wine Cellars. Collaboration with the clients’ interior designer on the lighting fixtures, decorative mosaic, and a custom travertine and polished marble floor ensured this wine cellar would be the envy of any wine collector.

Design Directives, LLCThis lovely home began as a complete remodel to a 1960 era ranch home. Warm, sunny colors and traditional details fill every space. The colorful gazebo overlooks the boccii court and a golf course. Shaded by stately palms, the dining patio is surrounded by a wrought iron railing. Hand plastered walls are etched and styled to reflect historical architectural details. The wine room is located in the basement where a cistern had been.
Project designed by Susie Hersker’s Scottsdale interior design firm Design Directives. Design Directives is active in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree, Sedona, and beyond.

Eileen Gordon DesignA complete remodel of a 70s-era home re-imagines its original post-modern architecture. The new design emphasizes details such as a phoenix motif (significant to the family) that appears on a fountain as well as at the living room fireplace surround, both designed by the firm. Mahogany paneling, stone and walnut flooring, elaborate ceiling treatments, steel picture windows that frame panoramic views, and carved limestone window surrounds contribute new texture and character.
Vintage CellarsThis custom wine cellar was specifically designed (side walls) to hold 11 bottles of wine on the bottom and a display row on top. This wine room then has a second display row and 11 bottles above. A custom designed walk in wine cellar such as this allows the customer to diplay a bottle and unload the case either above or below that display row. The wood species inside this beautiful small wine room is distressed and weathered redwood, with features including wine case storage, diamond bins, and high reveal wine bottle display. A small rustic wine cellar is the perfect addition to any home! This custom design turned a low key closet into a work of art.

A custom home bar lines the back wall with a big screen TV overhead, showcasing the local Angels game. A Pool / Billiards table sits right behind it, cozied up to the lounge - the perfect spot to share a glass of wine and a cuban cigar with the buddies. Even the ping pong table across the room fits perfectly with the decor. And then there's the wine cellar. Oh this wine cellar!
In the corner, not to be forgotten is the custom wine cellar / custom wine room / custom wine vault. This wine cellar matches the room in its modern and sleek look with glass, metal, and marble. An entire glass front makes for a stunning wine display, creating a literal art piece that steals the show in an already jaw dropping room.
This contemporary wine cellar boasts capacity for upwards of 500 bottles, most displayed in horizontal fashion for maximum label display and graceful aging potential. Triple deep chrome metal wine racks play host to a library of collectible wines - floor to ceiling on each side wall, and waist height to ceiling in the middle.
An extravagant slab of grey and white marble countertop enriches the space, jetting out into a peninsula with space for additional large format bottles below. This custom grey stained Oak wine cabinetry holds space for large format coved trays, perfect for showcasing those Magnums, Jeroboams and more. This peninsula lends perfectly to a tasting table - the ideal location to open and decant your favorite wines.
Below the countertops lie space for individual bottles as well as room for original wood cases in either corner. The cherry on top might be the backlighting as it brings it all together and really makes this custom wine cellar shine! A majestic chandelier hangs above bringing that much more elegance to the space.
