A modern coastal home with beautiful open plan living

This beautiful, solid wood, in-frame Shaker kitchen was part of a complete house renovation. The client wanted a light, airy and practical kitchen. It includes large island, American-style fridge/freezer framed by built-in larder units providing plenty of food storage and a bi-fold butler unit neatly houses all the tea and coffee making equipment. An electric/induction hob range cooker is complemented by a Quooker boiling water tap, providing plenty of instant boiling water. The units were were supplied by The White Kitchen Company and hand-painted in Farrow and Ball Railings on the island and Drop​ Cloth for the remainder. The light quartz worktop is Silestone 'Lagoon'.

The clever combination of Oak worktop and integrated bin cabinet below, provides a brilliant food preparation area. When you are finished chopping vegetables just slide the rubbish straight into the bin.

This kitchen, part of the New England & Cape Cod–inspired home by Studio212 Ltd, is designed around both functionality and lifestyle. Expansive glazing includes a 4m sliding bar window opening directly onto the patio lounge beneath the louvred pergola, making entertaining effortless. The interior features bespoke cabinetry in soft grey, a large kitchen island with waterfall worktop and breakfast bar seating, and a full-height wall of concealed storage. A run of pendant lights above the island provides task illumination with sculptural elegance. The adjacent dining area sits beside the garden, with a stone-topped table and upholstered chairs that echo the island stools. Fresh flowers and natural light reinforce the connection to the outdoors, blending everyday practicality with a refined entertaining space.

A tired, small 1970's house was refurbished and extended to become a modern, light-filled, sunny family home. The original house didn't take advantage of its leafy, expansive site, so the extension pushed north and opened up to the sun and outdoors. Living areas flow onto spacious, sunny outdoor areas to the north, and a generous hallway flows through to a new pool and the mature, leafy trees of the neighbouring park. A strong, geometric form sits wide on the site and its pitched roof creates open, airy, light-filled interior spaces. High windows give glimpses of the sky and surrounding trees, and side windows provide a green, leafy outlook to the reserve next door. A muted but rich finishes palette and carefully designed cabinetry complement the lofty architecture. This busy young family can now live and thrive in their beautifully spacious, well-functioning home.

Our clients are a young couple from Kent, who were extending their Victorian terrace in London. While the original property is full of quirky period features, the clean dimensions of the large, rectangular extension made the space ideal for one of our Modular Kitchens. We worked closely with our clients to select the cabinetry that best suited their needs, including a single door larder cupboard with built-in spice racks, two sets of pan drawers and a central island unit with plenty of storage. Traditional features such as the farmhouse sink and range cooker are in keeping with the character of the original property, while the client’s choice of a contemporary colour scheme simultaneously gives the space a funky, modern feel.

Die Küche bekommt eine glanzvolle Hauptrolle in diesem relativ kleinen Wohnhaus in Delft (NL). Die Fronten dieser Contur-Küche sind samtmatt Kristallgrau, die Arbeitsplatte ist aus 5 mm massivem Edelstahl und die Barplatte und die Fronten der Design-Oberschrank sind aus Asteiche und stammen aus unserer Manufaktur-Werkstatt. Die Insel ist mit einem Kombi-Dampfgarer von Siemens und einer Induktionsplatte mit integriertem Plasma-Abzug ausgestattet. A cook’s kitchen through and through; we loved working on this modern country farmhouse kitchen project. This kitchen was designed for relaxed entertaining on a large-scale for friends staying for the weekend, but also for everyday kitchen suppers with the family. As you walk into the kitchen the space feels warm and welcoming thanks to the soothing colour palette and Smithfield weathered oak finish. The kitchen has a large dining table with incredible views across the rolling East Sussex countryside. A separate scullery and walk in pantry concealed behind cabinetry either side of the French door fridge freezer provide a huge amount of storage and prep space completely hidden from view but easily accessible. The balance of cabinetry is perfect for the space and doesn’t compromise the light and airy feel we love to create in our Humphrey Munson kitchen projects. The five oven AGA, set within a bespoke false chimney, creates a main focal point for the room and the antique effect mirror splashback has been installed for a number of reasons; it bounces the light back across the room but also helps with continuing conversations with guests seated at the island. This is a sociable kitchen with seating at the island to serve drinks and quick appetisers before dinner, or to sit with coffee and a laptop to catch up on emails. To the left of the AGA is countertop storage with a bi-fold door which provides essential shelving for larger countertop appliances like the KitchenAid mixer and Magimix. Following on from the countertop cupboard is open shelving and the main sink run which features a large Kohler sink and Perrin & Rowe Athenian tap with rinse. To the right of the AGA is another countertop cupboard with a bi-fold door that not only balances the space in terms of symmetry, but conceals the breakfast cupboard which is perfect for storing the coffee machine, cups and everyday glassware. The large island is directly opposite the AGA and has been kept deliberately clear so that cooking and preparing food on a larger scale for family or friends staying all weekend is easy and stress free. The dining area which is just off of the main kitchen in the orangery seats six people at the table and is perfect for low key dining for a few friends and weekday meals. Directly opposite the island is a bank of floor to ceiling Smithfield Oak cabinetry that has a Fisher & Paykel French door refrigeration and freezer unit finished in stainless steel in the centre, while either side of the fridge freezer is a walk in scullery and walk in pantry that helps to keep all clutter hidden safely out of site without having to leave the kitchen and guests. We love the modern rustic luxe feel of this kitchen with the Nickleby cabinetry on the perimeter run painted in ‘Cuffs’ and the island painted in ‘London Calling’ it has a really relaxed and warm feeling to the space, particularly with the weathered bronze Tetterby pull handles and Hexham knobs. This is the ‘new neutral’ and really about creating a relaxed and informal setting that is perfect for this beautiful country home. Photo credit: Paul Craig
