Set lightly against the rugged stone envelope, it forms a small room of its own – a transparent volume that gathers light, frames views, and creates a contemplative place to sit. Internally, the deep reveal accommodates a built-in bench, turning the window into both a piece of furniture and an architectural moment. By separating the new plywood interior from the original masonry, the glazed box highlights the layered history of the building while introducing a precise contemporary counterpoint. It is a threshold between inside and out, past and present, modest in scale but central to the spatial character of the cottage.
