The owner of a detached seafront property in Sandgate, Folkestone, was looking for a new kitchen that would be sympathetic to the picturesque coastal location of the property. The owner wanted the space to be welcoming and relaxing, taking inspiration from the look and feel of a traditional bright beach hut. Having had a Stoneham Kitchen before, and impressed by the quality, the owner wanted her new kitchen to be of the same craftsmanship. She therefore approached kitchen designer Philip Haines at Stoneham Kitchens for her second kitchen project. To get the natural feel of the beachfront, the owner opted for Stoneham’s Bewl range with in-frame flush doors, finished in a rustic oak enhanced grain and painted in Crown’s Starry Host – a sea inspired shade of blue. In contrast to the deep ocean blue hue, part of the kitchen cupboards were finished in Crown Mussel – a soft cream tone.

Il s’agissait de leur premier achat immobilier, un joli appartement dans le Nord de Paris. L’objet de cette rénovation partielle visait à réaménager la cuisine, repenser l’espace entre la salle de bain, la chambre et le salon. Nous avons ainsi pu, à travers l’implantation d’un mur entre la chambre et le salon, créer une future chambre d’enfant. Coup de coeur spécial pour la cuisine Ikea. Elle a été customisée par nos architectes via Superfront. Superfront propose des matériaux chics et luxueux, made in Suède; de quoi passer sa cuisine Ikea au niveau supérieur !

As this is a new part of the house we embraced the modernity and choose sleek, handleless blue cabintery. The bronzed mirrored splashback adds warmth as well as maximising the sense of space. The open French doors from the middle reception shows where we extended into the side return. The lower wall (restricted in height as it is now a bounary wall with neighbours) with the pitched ceiling shows where we extended into the footpath which lead from the front of the house to the rear garden as this is a semi detached house. By doing this we created enough width to have a large island and space to walk around the dining table. This layout would not have been possible with a standard side return only extension. A big roof light was designed to flood the space with natural light. An exposed beam crossed the roof light and ceiling and gave us the opportunity to express it with a nice vivid colour which gives personality to the space.

This beautiful light filled space was designed with a busy growing family in mind. For example -the bench seating by the dining table has lots of storage for the kids toys and play equipment nice and close to the garden. There is a large pantry, a breakfast cupboard, nice deep pan drawers and peg boards to help organise crockery. The island houses a large double butler sink, dishwasher, recycling bin, wine chiller, bookshelf and a large breakfast bar capped with a gorgeous piece of London Elm rescued from storm damage. The client has some beautiful house plants and the live edge on this piece of elm adds another organic element to this room and helps bring the outside in. Just a beautiful functional space.
