Recycled timber flooring has been carefully selected and laid to create a back panel on the island bench. Push to open doors are disguised by the highly featured boards. Natural light floods into this room via skylights and windows letting nature indoors.

This centrally placed kitchen required some thoughtful planning to accommodate a walkway and two serveries. Decorative timber components and a sublime skylight resulted in a stunning home hub. Contemporary and functional family kitchen with a contrast of colour, texture and materials.

BRIEF FOR THIS PROJECT WAS TO BRING BACK THE PROPERTY’S CHARM, MODERNISE AND GET IT READY FOR SALE. FOR THE OWNERS, THE DAMAGE LEFT BY TENANTS WAS HARD TO SEE PAST. ON FIRST VIEWING WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE ORIGINAL FEATURES OF THIS HOME. THE FRONT PORCH COLUMNS, THE UNIQUE DETAILED CEILING ROSES IN EVERY ROOM, THE ORIGINAL WOOD FIRE STOVE. ALL OF WHICH FUELED OUR INSPIRATION FOR THE ENTIRE RENOVATION. WE WORKED FROM FRONT TO BACK AND CREATED WHAT WE FEEL HAS MAINTAINED THE RETRO APPEAL OF THE PROPERTY BUT BROUGHT IT IN TO THE 21ST CENTURY.

Victorian house which still retained the original internal layout for the kitchen and outside w/c. The revised plan called for the internal walls to be demolished providing a single open plan room allowing for the new kitchen and breakfast area. Additionally the chimney breast was opend up to allow for the hob and built under oven to sit comfortable with an extractor hood above. The rear garden wall had two original door openings one of which has been retained as a door the other now forms a full height window giving a view over the garden from the breakfast table.

This beautiful kitchen installation fuses country classic with modern features. The beaded cabinets painted in a mid grey, are complemented with open shelving and metro tiles, whilst the large island houses a wine rack and wine refrigerator - as well as doubling up as a breakfast bar. With pops of pale blue in the electrical appliances and mosaic tiled flooring, it certainly makes an impact! #greykitchen #traditionalkitchen #winerack

The Kitchen Bathroom Institute Judges said of this kitchen "In this tightly-contested category, the judges deemed this entry to be worthy of commendation. The designer’s reinvention of the existing space was impressive, and her response to the client brief ticked all the boxes. The simple architecture of this Balmain boathouse was described by the designer as ‘unpretentious’, and she cleverly incorporated the elements of Shaker style to complement the exterior. With its simple lines and understated elegance, the new kitchen is a perfect fit."
