UserThis open floor plan done in shades of gray and black is a tranquil place to relax for the entire family. The two gray chairs are high-leg recliners that facilitate comfortable reading and TV-watching and the storage ottoman does double duty as a foot rest and a hideaway for blankets and magazines.

James Patrick WaltersA stacked stone fireplace draws the attention when visitors aren't watching the 60-inch framed inset plasma TV screen.
Jim Walters designed a sectional and two swivel chairs to encourage intimate talking while accommodating large groups watching movies or sports.
Marker Girl HomeThe fireplace was refaced with a Marble Tile – Hasia Blue Honed from Arizona Tile. Wall paint color Sherwin Williams Frosty White 6196. The Cabinetry is all painted in a soft blue/grey (Sherwin Williams Mineral Deposit 7652 ) and the walls are painted in (Sherwin Williams Frosty White 6196) The island was custom made to function for them. They requested lots of storage so we designed storage in the front of the island as well and the left side was open shelved for cookbooks. Counters are quartz from LG. I love using Quartz for a more durable option keeping it family-friendly. We opted for a nice stone mosaic from Daltile – Sublimity Namaste.
The MansionThis transitional family game room was designed by Emily Hughes, IIDA. The clients wanted family-friendly, updated furniture for a living area in their lower level game room. Lord & Lady Construction LLCCustom built-ins were designed for the space, so they could perfectly fit the space, store their TV and accessories, allow for access to the light switches on the wall and integrate with the fireplace surround. The fireplace hearth was replaced with slate and a slate surround, with a custom mantle built to integrate with the adjoining units.

Hush HouseThe Pool Box sites a small secondary residence and pool alongside an existing residence, set in a rolling Hill Country community. The project includes design for the structure, pool, and landscape - combined into a sequence of spaces of soft native planting, painted Texas daylight, and timeless materials. A careful entry carries one from a quiet landscape, stepping down into an entertainment room. Large glass doors open into a sculptural pool.
designstiles “People tend to want to place their sofas right against the wall,” Lovett says. “I always try to float the sofa a bit and give the sofa some breathing room. Here, we didn’t have floor outlets or any eye-level lighting. Incorporating table lamps allows for mood lighting and ambiance. We placed a console behind the sofa to bring in large-scale lamps, which also helped fill in the negative space between the sofa and the bottom of the windows.”
