Little Crown InteriorsThis boy's nursery is modern with clean lines and a masculine feel. We had to get creative with placing the furniture in this design because the room is triangular in shape. The color palette for this nursery is primarily white and gray. For a bit of contrast we added navy details throughout the room. The client fell in love with a super versatile crib in white with acrylic details. We opted for a custom dresser with a changing table tray to get the perfect fit and color. One of my favorite pieces in this space is the light-colored modern rocking chair, which is compact yet comfortable. We used mixed metallics in this space so the chrome base of the rocker ties in with gold detail on the side table. Even the cozy textured gray rug has metallic details. The storage bench with a surprise pop of color doubles as additional seating. We installed two white shelving units on both sides of the bench for a peaceful, symmetrical look and a display for decor and toys. The major statement penguin photograph was a favorite of my client! It makes for a playful artistic focal point and I love that is versatile enough to grow with the child and space.

Builders Glass of Bonita and The Glass ShoppeThe feature Wall was done with Stikwood. The unexpected Brass Light fixture is from West Elm. Succulents hang in the corner to add to the eclectic pop. A West Elm Dresser is used as the changing table.
YouthfulNestThis tiny 50 sq. foot nursery was created with a temporary wall in a rental apartment in NYC, NY. Instead of putting up a simple temporary wall it was designed with open storage and space to tuck away a changing table.

Kathy Kuo Designs IncOur design team based the overall color scheme on the existing floral wallpaper that the client had as a backdrop for the crib. From her walls, we drew hints of blush pink, moss green, and ivory and incorporated those as accents through decors, pillows, throws, and rugs.
Design Build 4U ChicagoFor this client’s nursery project , the client wanted to take a spare room in her new home that once served as an office full of dark walnut custom built-ins (2 desks, cabinets, and lined with bookshelves), and transform the space into a bright and cheery nursery for her two toddlers. To do this, we had to overcome a few design challenges: 1) the layout and space-absorbing built-ins along the perimeter of the room; 2) the inherent darkness of the space because of its lack of windows and light; 3) the client’s desire to have custom closets built where she could store her children’s clothes.
To achieve this nursery vision, we removed the built-in cabinets and shelving on the East and South walls to make room for the two cribs and toys that would soon inhabit the space. We then installed bead board to give a finished look. We built custom closets within the niche that already existed on the North wall, taking into consideration the size of the children’s clothing when measuring for the adjustable shelving and hanging space. We finished it with trim pieces and woodwork to match the existing woodwork in the room. We painted all the walls, bead board, cabinets, shelving, closet doors and trim work with a vibrant white to brighten up the space. The ceiling was painted a very light blue called “Heaven on Earth” in a pearl finish for a slight glow. The end result was a room much different from the dark office it had once been and is now a happy, bright, fun bedroom her little ones will enjoy for years to come.

YouthfulNestLike a breath of fresh air this nursery soothes and calms our senses. Not bad for a space that requires lots of moments where sleep is the main goal.
