Rich woods, natural stone, artisan lighting, and plenty of custom finishes (such as the cut-out mirror) gave this home a strong character. We kept the lighting and textiles soft to ensure a welcoming ambiance. Project designed by Susie Hersker’s Scottsdale interior design firm Design Directives. A balance of the clean-lined and classic Brings a serene, expansive air to this condominium….. …..before asking interior designer Jennifer Corredor, Of J Design Group, to redress the interior. With magnificent views, the 12th-level, over 5000 SF unit Had at the same time suffered from a fussy décor that underplayed the outlook and gave it a rather close atmosphere, says Corredor. “For the remodel, I wanted to achieve a look that reflected the spirit of the young owners but that would also be in keeping with a family home – the couple has five children. For me, this meant striking a delicate balance between the contemporary and traditional right through the interiors. Modern accents cater to their youthful tastes, while the more classical elements evoke the feeling of warmth and solidity appropriate to a family residence.” The first thing the designer did was……. “As soon as you step into the foyer from the lift, this run of marble leads the eye through the formal living space and out to the sea views,” says Corredor. “I designed the entry in clean-lined green glass panels and laminated cherry wood, custom cut in a jigsaw-like pattern. The interlocking wood panels cover all four sides of a circulation hub, the nucleus of the home.” In the formal living area, a mother-of-pearl accent wall provides the leading contemporary feature. Most of the furniture pieces, fabrics and finishes were custom specified by Corredor……. Photo by Alan Tansey This East Village penthouse was designed for nocturnal entertaining. Reclaimed wood lines the walls and counters of the kitchen and dark tones accent the different spaces of the apartment. Brick walls were exposed and the stair was stripped to its raw steel finish. The guest bath shower is lined with textured slate while the floor is clad in striped Moroccan tile.

Overlooking the Spring Creek dam this house was designed that turned and layered over the contours to make the most of the existing landscape and capture the beautiful views on the edge of the site. The external materials employed are to enhance the surrounding country landscape and stand the test of time. Starting with charred timber that is an old art of Japanese culture as the main cladding employs a base for the exterior that is ageless with texture and character.

Brunswick Parlour transforms a Victorian cottage into a hard-working, personalised home for a family of four. Our clients loved the character of their Brunswick terrace home, but not its inefficient floor plan and poor year-round thermal control. They didn't need more space, they just needed their space to work harder. The front bedrooms remain largely untouched, retaining their Victorian features and only introducing new cabinetry. Meanwhile, the main bedroom’s previously pokey en suite and wardrobe have been expanded, adorned with custom cabinetry and illuminated via a generous skylight. At the rear of the house, we reimagined the floor plan to establish shared spaces suited to the family’s lifestyle. Flanked by the dining and living rooms, the kitchen has been reoriented into a more efficient layout and features custom cabinetry that uses every available inch. In the dining room, the Swiss Army Knife of utility cabinets unfolds to reveal a laundry, more custom cabinetry, and a craft station with a retractable desk. Beautiful materiality throughout infuses the home with warmth and personality, featuring Blackbutt timber flooring and cabinetry, and selective pops of green and pink tones. The house now works hard in a thermal sense too. Insulation and glazing were updated to best practice standard, and we’ve introduced several temperature control tools. Hydronic heating installed throughout the house is complemented by an evaporative cooling system and operable skylight. The result is a lush, tactile home that increases the effectiveness of every existing inch to enhance daily life for our clients, proving that good design doesn’t need to add space to add value.

This luxurious spa-like bathroom was remodeled from a dated 90's bathroom. The entire space was demolished and reconfigured to be more functional. Walnut Italian custom floating vanities, large format 24"x48" porcelain tile that ran on the floor and up the wall, marble countertops and shower floor, brass details, layered mirrors, and a gorgeous white oak clad slat walled water closet. This space just shines!

The master bathroom was outdated with colors that were no longer in style, an old bathtub that was rarely used, and a vanity that seemed more appropriate for a museum than a contemporary bathroom. A half wall was built next to the toilet at the end of the vanity, and a custom shower with a wall that combined Country White tile and Charme Evo Calacatta Black tile with Tech Penny White Matte Mosaic on the shower floor. New Sollid Designer series cabinets were installed in the Napa Driftwood finish with Viatera Forte Quartz countertops, and significantly add storage and a modern and stylish look. The addition of two matte black wall mirrors and Quoizel Emerson vanity lights has brought a bright and refreshed ambiance to the space.
