This new custom home is filled with personality and individual touches that make it true to the owners' vision. When creating the guest bath, they wanted to do something truly unique and a little bit whimsical. The result is a custom-designed furniture piece vanity in a custom royal blue finish, as well as matching mirror frames.
**What Makes This Project Unique?**
The clients had an image in their minds and were determined to find a place for it in their new custom home. Their love of bold blue and this unique style led to the creation of this one-of-a-kind piece. The room is bathed in natural light, and the use of light colors in the tile to complement the brilliant blue, help ensure that the space remains light, airy and welcoming.
**Design Challenges**
Because this furniture piece doesn't start with a standard vanity, our biggest challenge was simply determining what pieces we could draw upon from a semi-custom custom cabinet line.

JWT AssociatesThe master bathroom was formerly a narrow dark space. We enlarged the room and exposed the original ceiling to create an open, lofty space. The vanity is custom. Caesarstone countertops and shower trim. The shower tile is from Heath Ceramics.

Tami Smight InteriorsColors inspired by sea and sand informed this selection for the vanity materials.
Board & VellumThe owner of this 1960s, low-slung house challenged Board & Vellum to give it a major overhaul. Located across from Puget Sound, the house already had a lot to offer but the dated style, low ceilings, tight spaces and interior walls that blocked Sound views kept it from fulfilling its full potential.
Board & Vellum gutted and reimagined the whole house, giving it a more traditional style. The interior—previously quite dark, thanks to brick- and wood panel-clad walls—was transformed with white trim, bright detailing (such as the hand-glazed tile in the kitchen), and plenty of built-in casework for the homeowner to display the travel mementos she collected throughout her career in the airline industry. Removing a fireplace in the center of the house and opening up the floorplan through to the staircase and entryway lets light flood in and allows for water views from across the main living area and kitchen.
The exterior of the house received a dose of character with brick, corbels, and a curved eyebrow roof above the front entry, which also gave the home office area its distinctive barrel ceiling.
