Green Mountain BuildersThis transitional-inspired remodel to this lovely Bonita Bay home consists of a completely transformed kitchen and bathrooms. The kitchen was redesigned for better functionality, better flow and is now more open to the adjacent rooms. The original kitchen design was very outdated, with natural wood color cabinets, corian countertops, white appliances, a very small island and peninsula, which closed off the kitchen with only one way in and out. The new kitchen features a massive island with seating for six, gorgeous quartz countertops, all new upgraded stainless steel appliances, magnificent white cabinets, including a glass front display cabinet and pantry. The two-toned cabinetry consists of white permitter cabinets, while the island boasts beautiful blue cabinetry. The blue cabinetry is also featured in the bathroom. The bathroom is quite special. Colorful wallpaper sets the tone with a wonderful decorative pattern. The blue cabinets contrasted with the white quartz counters, and gold finishes are truly lovely. New flooring was installed throughout.

Background/description: The house was built in 1908, my clients are only the 3rd owners of the house. The prior owner lived there from 1940s until she died at age of 98! The old home had loads of character and charm but was in pretty bad condition and desperately needed updates. The clients purchased the home a few years ago and did some work before they moved in (roof, HVAC, electrical) but decided to live in the house for a 6 months or so before embarking on the next renovation phase. I had worked with the clients previously on the wife's office space and a few projects in a previous home including the nursery design for their first child so they reached out when they were ready to start thinking about the interior renovations. The goal was to respect and enhance the historic architecture of the home but make the spaces more functional for this couple with two small kids. Clients were open to color and some more bold/unexpected design choices. The design style is updated traditional with some eclectic elements. An early design decision was to incorporate a dark colored french range which would be the focal point of the kitchen and to do dark high gloss lacquered cabinets in the adjacent coffee bar, and we ultimately went with dark green.
West One Bathrooms LtdSimple, tactile and statement. This top floor room had plenty of natural light thanks to the Velux windows. Finishes were a massive part of the interest in this bathroom. The room was so bright anyway, so we thought we’d have fun and play with the black fittings, brushed copper brassware and concrete basin, tying it all together with the most fabulous porcelain terrazzo effect tile.
Prior to the renovation, the space wasn’t being used to its best. There were lots of empty areas where product just fitted but didn’t add anything to the room and the Velux windows felt as though they were an issue rather than becoming part of the space.
CM Natural DesignsThis adorable beach cottage is in the heart of the village of La Jolla in San Diego. The goals were to brighten up the space and be the perfect beach get-away for the client whose permanent residence is in Arizona. Some of the ways we achieved the goals was to place an extra high custom board and batten in the great room and by refinishing the kitchen cabinets (which were in excellent shape) white. We created interest through extreme proportions and contrast. Though there are a lot of white elements, they are all offset by a smaller portion of very dark elements. We also played with texture and pattern through wallpaper, natural reclaimed wood elements and rugs. This was all kept in balance by using a simplified color palate minimal layering.

Nicole Arnold InteriorsGarden florals and colors were the inspiration for the total renovation and refurnishing of this project. The client wished for a bright and cheerful home to enjoy each day. Each room received fresh appointments and waves of colorful touches in furnishings, art, and window treatments- with plenty of nods to the client’s love for gardening. The bathrooms are the most fun botanical interpretations! The owner’s bath features a Carrera marble shower wall treatment, reminiscent of a sweet flower, along with a foliage-inspired chandelier and wallpaper. The secondary bath is like walking through a colorful rainforest with bold hues extending throughout the room. The plum vanity and Caribbean blue shower accent tile complement the wallpaper perfectly. The entire home flows from room to room with colors that inspire joyful energy. Painted furniture pieces, a multicolored striped settee, and powerful pillow fabrics are just some of the fun items that bring this once understated home into a whole new light!
AmberthThis light filled bathroom uses porcelain tiles across the walls and floor, a composite stone worktop and a white a custom-made vanity unit helps to achieve a contemporary classic look. Black fittings provide a great contrast to this bright space and mirrored wall cabinets provides concealed storage, visually expanding the size of the space. (Photography: David Giles)
Studio 511A new master suite was created on the third level of the home. The bath has great light from one of the original eight foot tall windows. The vanity has a carrera marble top and the tile and fixtures are from Waterworks. Interior Design by Barbara Gisel and Mary Macelree.
