schemes & spacesAn injection of colour brings this bathroom to life. Muted green used on the vanity compliments the black and white elements, all set on a neutral wall and floor backdrop.
Mark Brand ArchitectureWe designed this bathroom makeover for an episode of Bath Crashers on DIY. This is how they described the project: "A dreary gray bathroom gets a 180-degree transformation when Matt and his crew crash San Francisco. The space becomes a personal spa with an infinity tub that has a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Marble floors and a marble shower kick up the luxury factor, and a walnut-plank wall adds richness to warm the space. To top off this makeover, the Bath Crashers team installs a 10-foot onyx countertop that glows at the flip of a switch." This was a lot of fun to participate in. Note the ceiling mounted tub filler. Arturo Palombo ArchitectureA new first floor Powder room for a restored 100 year old Farmhouse in northern New Jersey. The vessel sink over the stained wood vanity and wall mounted faucet are notable details, offering a modern take on a traditional home interior.
One Room at a Time, Inc.This powder room design plays off the historic washbasin aesthetic with a modernized twist. The washbasin is a custom created pottery bowl sink with an artistic glaze, playing off the colors of the slate flooring. The vanity is a designed furniture-look piece with a burgundy stain on cherry, in a modernized version of the farmhouse table and washbasin style.
Meredith LeePink, aqua and purple are colours they both love, and had already been incorporated into their existing decor, so we used those colours as the starting point and went from there.
In the bathroom, the Victorian walls are high and the natural light levels low. The many small rooms were demolished and one larger open plan space created. The pink terrazzo tiling unites the room and makes the bathroom space feel more inviting and less cavernous. ‘Fins’ are used to define the functional spaces (toilet, laundry, vanity, shower). They also provide an architectural detail to tie in the Victorian window and ceiling heights with the 80s extension that is just a step outside the bathroom.
