MainStreet Design BuildBuilding a small 6′ x 20′ two-story addition on this 1960 Bloomfield Hills home created room for a gorgeous new master bathroom.
On the second floor, the addition made it possible to expand and re-design the master bath and bedroom. The new bedroom now has an entry foyer and large living space, complete with crown molding and a very large private bath. The new luxurious master bathroom invites room for two at the elongated custom inset furniture vanity by Omega complete with marble countertops. Unique framed mirrors and individual sconces light up each space for separate grooming. The freestanding tub is surrounded by built-in’s with a beautiful Crystorama chandelier above that creates soft ambient lighting for bathing. A separate room with frosted French glass pocket doors hide the toilet and oversized steam shower made for two. Right outside the new shower, warm towels hang on a large wall mounted towel warmer.
By simply adjusting the existing space and adding a small addition, MainStreet Design Build gave these homeowners the bathroom (and bedroom) they had been dreaming about.

Hagstrom BuilderThe double sink vanity now “floated” off of the floor giving the perception of airiness and allowing for easy cleaning and under cabinet “night lights”. This required adding substantial blocking behind the wall to accommodate the weight load. Teak wood was used to build the custom cabinetry and streamlined faucets and bowls continue the simple lines of the piece. Floating shelving also flanks one side of the free standing tub creating space for storage and display without taking up floor space.

The steel-framed vanity and shower doors are focal points of the room. The white subway tiles extend from floor to ceiling on all 4 walls, and are highlighted with black grout. The dark bronze fixtures accent the steel and complete the industrial vibe. The transom window in the shower provides ample natural light and ventilation.

MainStreet Design BuildHome is where the heart is for this family and not surprisingly, a much needed mudroom entrance for their teenage boys and a soothing master suite to escape from everyday life are at the heart of this home renovation. With some small interior modifications and a 6′ x 20′ addition, MainStreet Design Build was able to create the perfect space this family had been hoping for.
In the original layout, the side entry of the home converged directly on the laundry room, which opened up into the family room. This unappealing room configuration created a difficult traffic pattern across carpeted flooring to the rest of the home. Additionally, the garage entry came in from a separate entrance near the powder room and basement, which also lead directly into the family room.
With the new addition, all traffic was directed through the new mudroom, providing both locker and closet storage for outerwear before entering the family room. In the newly remodeled family room space, MainStreet Design Build removed the old side entry door wall and made a game area with French sliding doors that opens directly into the backyard patio.
