UserOriginally designed as a series of separate spaces that included a tub area, shower, and walk-in closet, this transitional master bath was re-imagined as a light and bright space with an open layout and more than a bit of design dazzle.
Shades of grey, blue, and taupe, set against a backdrop of clean white walls, trim, and ceiling, add character and interest. The grey dolomite marble flooring leads the eye toward the wet room on the far end of the bath, where the basket weave floor tile adds textural interest. A white freestanding tub tucked neatly to the side is perfect for a leisurely soak. Centered in the space, a large window looks out onto an interior courtyard. The expansive glass shower wall takes advantage of the window allowing an abundant influx of natural light.
The Blues quartzite countertops offer hints of blue, while the cabinetry, neither grey nor blue, but rather a blue-grey-taupe hue, was chosen to tie the finishes together. An X motif in the vanity adds a simple visual element that echoes the herringbone pattern in the backsplash tile above it. The plush vanity stool continues the blue-grey palette.
Moments of gold on the light fixtures and mirror frames provide pop. Glass beads drip from the statement making chandelier in the center of the space and glittery crystal knobs adorn the cabinetry. all elements that imbue this clean-lined bath a glamorous vibe.

Melanie Sa'u Design StudioOur Pretty in Pink ensuite is a result of what you can create from dead space within a home. Previously, this small space was part of an under utilised master bedroom sun room & hall way cupboard.
The brief for this ensuite was to create a trendy bathroom that was soft with a splash of colour that worked cohesively with the grey and blue tonings seen throughout the 60’s home.
The challenge was to take a space with no existing plumbing, and an angled wall, and transform it into a beautiful ensuite. Before we could look at the colours and finishes, careful planning was done in conjunction with the plumber and architect for consent.
We meticulously worked through the aesthetics of the room by starting with the selection of Grey & White tiles, creating a timeless base to the scheme. The custom-made vanity and the Resene Wafer wall give the space a pop of colour, while the stone top and soft grey basin break up the black tapware.

About the project: This couple wished for a functional space while incorporating a sexy feel. The mandates for the space included a separate shower, freestanding tub, two sinks and a bright, minimalistic European feel.
Jenny BallantyneThe Brief: to create a wet room that invokes feelings of the sea. The pebble tiles create a wonderful foot massage as you walk in as well as adding depth and interest. The bespoke, hand made rustic vanity unit, gives plenty of storage space, whilst adding a warm touch to the overall look of the bathroom. The shine from the grey metro tiles means that rather than feeling small, this bathroom gives a sense of space and light.
