Scape (Black) Planter is a solid steel, tubular structure, made to hold three 4″ pots for seedlings or starter plants in its cylindrical form.
Circular contoured openings provide ample space to accommodate the pots, while openings on either side of the length of the tube, provide additional aeration for plants to breathe.
Among the Scape’s functional features is that it can be mounted to a wall at a 45 degree angle, or combined wih several other Scapes to form an architectural, tiered garden, as well as to hold several wine bottles in its multi-leveled form.

In this West-facing terrace, SZ widened the original space to create a more gracious outdoor living room. From here this family can entertain, dine, play and watch their children in the pool, or in the garden below - all while taking in the beauty of the water and carefully landscaped garden.
The floors were clad with a light, neutral porcelain tile with a slight texture. SZ designed a long bench of darkened steel, which houses brown velvet cushions that can be stored in an concealed compartment. Two cubic corners of cast concrete at each end match the dark brown hue of the metal. This long bench, which runs the perimeter of the terrace, is secured by a wooden ledge of varying depth - the perfect drink ledge. Conceived of with the planter below, together both elements form a perfect rectangle.
Spanning the length of the terrace, a slightly lowered wooden soffit pulls the design together. The lighting is housed on a sliding track to afford different settings. The fixtures, selected from Seattle-based Resolute Lighting, are the poetic Bloom & the Precious rigid stem pendants.
The large scale of the Bloom fixture beautifully and organically adds to the terrace experience. The golden glow emanating from this flower-like pendant - made of 12 leaves of fabric enclosed in a resin - is seen through the treas on the boat dock below. The soffit also houses infrared heat panels, so the entire family can enjoy their outdoor terrace, even on a chilly evening, s they sip a drink and seep in the sunset.
Courtney Thomas DesignWe made sure our client's outdoor patio had everything they would need for a day (or night) of hosting. A fully equipped barbecue area was integrated just to the side of the elegant outdoor dining space - keeping the host and/or cook included in the conversation.
An outdoor living area was also designed, presenting large comfortable outdoor sofas and chairs alongside a mounted flatscreen TV and fireplace. A great place to enjoy a drink, watch a game, or enjoy a night of discussion!

Hudson EnvironmentsCarrying the softness of the space to another corner of the patio. I painted and placed Bougainvillea in a rectangle container and filled the container with soil and topped it off with used corks from wine and Champagne bottles. I also added a small trellis for the Bougainvillea to trail.
A. Gail Boorman, Landscape ArchitectThe Garden Entrance is for People (and the Birds!): This view from the kitchen table makes the outside part of the inside experience. The sense of whimsy and fun continues past the arched entrance to the driveway, continuing the garden theme of orchids and found objects. A birdbath under the overarching oaks shelter ligustrum, firespike, and other cover plants that invite local birds to visit; a family of cardinals visit the parakeet almost every day; doves nest in the orchid pots each year; and hummingbirds are a common sight feeding on the firespike blossoms.
Alair Homes Lake NormanThe client has a beautiful wooded view at the back of their house. Opening the kitchen and adding on a sunroom really opened the space and flooded the home with natural light, while the new patio connected the indoor and outdoor living spaces.
