Jesse York, Landscape DesignerNestled on a challenging steep, rocky incline with breathtaking ocean vistas, this backyard was initially nearly unusable due to its limited flat areas. The homeowner's vision was to transform it into a multifunctional space capable of hosting large gatherings of family and friends. The transformative design boasts four terraced decks: two featuring cozy fire pits, one equipped with a hot tub perfectly positioned for sunset viewing, and another for daytime relaxation, alongside a hidden deck designed especially for children's play. The space is further enhanced with an outdoor kitchen, a cascading water feature adorning the slope, seating nestled under a waterproof deck, and built-in wooden seating with cleverly integrated storage, all centered around a playful and inviting pool.

UserThe owners of this property were completing a full renovation of the house to provide a home for their young family for the next few years. Removing the overgrown existing garden completely, we started with a blank canvas approach to complete a fresh functional outdoor area that maximises every inch of space and provides an attractive setting for the home. Built in bench seating provides the perfect area to sit and watch the children and artificial turf ensures the children can get outside to play all year around. New gates at the entrance provide a secure and attractive entry to the property and ensures the long driveway can be used for toddler's bikes and ride on toys safely. A new storage shed is incorporated on the driveway. Paving down the side of the house provides an attractive outlook from the kitchen, additional storage and easy access to utilities. Planting was kept minimal but with a focus on subtropical plants that will provide interest through colour and foliage texture all year round.

SeaBreeze Design & Constructbuilt over a storm water channel, we created extra usable metreage by installing modular floating landscaping components, enabling is to bridge over the top of and completely disguising the drainage channel. It was done quite economically and it certainly created more valuable usable site meters.

We added a private beach, stunning stacked retaining walls, an ipe deck, outdoor kitchen, bluestone patio and stunning year round landscaping. The tiered landscape complements the new construction home and maximizes the usable space of the yard.
