The Bazeley PartnershipLocated on the dramatic North Cornwall coast and within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the clients for this remarkable contemporary family home shared our genuine passion for sustainability, the environment and ecology.
One of the first Hempcrete block buildings in Cornwall, the dwelling’s unique approach to sustainability employs the latest technologies and philosophies whilst utilising traditional building methods and techniques. Wherever practicable the building has been designed to be ‘cement-free’ and environmentally considerate, with the overriding ambition to have the capacity to be ‘off-grid’.
Wood-fibre boarding was used for the internal walls along with eco-cork insulation and render boards. Lime render and plaster throughout complete the finish.
Externally, there are concrete-free substrates to all external landscaping and a natural pool surrounded by planting of native species aids the diverse ecology and environment throughout the site.
A ground Source Heat Pump provides hot water and central heating in conjunction with a PV array with associated battery storage.

Kathy Kuo Designs IncWe were inspired by the beautiful blend that results when you pair together vintage with industrial. The exposed ceiling gave the space a naturally-industrial feel, so we played off of the aesthetic by selecting very modern chandeliers. You’ll notice that these chandeliers, along with the rugs, mark each quadrant as part of a definitive whole. To add warmth to a space, nothing does it better than vintage! We chose a leather sofa with antique brass nailheads and buttery red and brown tones that add a touch of coziness to the workspace. You’ll also find hints of our Global Bazaar collection in this quadrant, bringing diversity and unique textiles to the look.
JSJ DesignSmall lounge area, in teal colourway. Grey blush tones act as an accent, while the bespoke pattern and colours of the carpet echoes those in the room.
Janey Butler InteriorsA beautiful 16th Century Cottage in a Cotswold Conservation Village. The cottage was very dated and needed total renovatation. The Living room was was in fact two rooms which were knocked into one, creating a lovely large living room area for our client. Keeping the existing large open fire place at one end of the inital one room and turning the old smaller fireplace which was discovered when renovation works began in the other initial room as a feature fireplace with kiln dried logs. Beautiful calming colour schemes were implemented. New hardwood windows were painted in a gorgeous colour and the Bisque radiators sprayed in a like for like colour. New Electrics & Plumbing throughout the whole cottage as it was very old and dated. A modern Oak & Glass Staircase replaced the very dated aliminium spiral staircase. A total Renovation / Conversion of this pretty 16th Century Cottage, creating a wonderful light, open plan feel in what was once a very dark, dated cottage in the Cotswolds.
