Looking back toward the Entry, one sees the new bookshelves and the stair leading to the bedrooms at the second level--but just a half level above the mid-level shared living spaces.
The former Living Room had a flat ceiling, and the new vault with the cove lighting lets the room breathe.
Note that the TV is retracted here. Bookshelves are turned inward in the room, and out of view of the Entry hall.

Collaborative design work between our clients and ourselves incorporating their own tastes, furniture and artwork as they downsized from a large home to an almost new condo. As with many of our projects we brought in our core group of trade specialists to consult and advise so that we could guide our clients through an easy process of option selections to meet their standards, timeline and budget. A very smooth project from beginning to end that included removal of the existing hardwood and carpet throughout, new painting throughout, some new lighting and detailed art glass work as well as custom metal and millwork. The interiors are more traditional with mahogany furniture-style custom cabinetry, dark hardwood floors, radiant heat (hydronic heating), and generous crown moulding and baseboard.
Juxtaposed DesignMy client embodies warmth and spiritual/family values. She wanted her home to reflect that same feeling. I found a way to celebrate the beauty of the moldings and 12 foot ceilings, by working with a warm and inviting color palette that allowed her favorite color red to take center stage.
