This quiet corner in the large open plan family room is the perfect place to curl up and read a good book. You can never go wrong with comfortable seating, good lighting, and a place to put your feet up.
Paul Lafrance Design
We turned this once cramped and cluttered family room into a bright and beautiful haven that maximizes its limited space. Some of the space-saving solutions include sliding shoji-style doors that don't need to swing out into the room, a cool flip-around hidden TV mount that allows the homeowners to display a beloved painting, and built-in floor-to-ceiling storage spaces. Designed & built by Paul Lafrance Design.

Vertigo is, in the words of its designer, a “den lamp”. It is simultaneously ethereal and graphic, adapting to both large and small spaces where it creates it’s own intimate space. With its ultra-light fibreglass structure, stretched with velvelty polyurethane ribbons, this pendant lamp fascinates as it comes to life swaying in the soft air currents that surround it.

The second living and dining area is separated by the stone double sided fireplace and arched display case. The kitchen is open for purposes of entertaining. Below the counter copper panels are incorporated with wood in a curved peninsula. An elongated oval ceiling trim is centered above the area of conversation. Ceiling light by the owner. This vacation home in Gruene Texas wanted a truly eclectic mix of flavor and flare. So we gave them a multitude of colors, textures, and styles in just the right amount to create a unique look.

We painted the library's paneled walls in an unforgettable glossy peacock blue that sets off the client’s existing artwork. We also added a new velvet sofa and textured cocktail table, which rest atop layered rugs that mix tailored, woven wool with white, Australian long sheepskin. Masculine wool window treatments from Holland & Sherry add an additional layer of sophistication. Anice Hoachlander

Between the hand-hewn timber rafters, oak ceilings, and stucco-infill walls of the cavernous great room, post-and-beam architecture suggesting the pastoral Normandy province in France frames wide views of the landscape through oversized arch-top French doors and casement windows.
