Space was made for a growing family by excavating the slope beneath and raising the ceilings above. Every new detail was made to look vintage, retaining the core essence of the site, while state of the art whole house systems ensure that it functions like 21st century home.

House NerdWith the advice of my interior designer friend Nelly Reffet of Twinkle and Whistle, I turned this space into a much nicer and more organised room to work. One of the first things Nelly advised me to do was paint the Antique White walls Vivid White and change the cedar blinds for linen curtains. I could not believe the difference this made in making the room seem brighter and lighter. As I was on a very tight budget for this room, Nelly suggested utilising a piece of furniture I already had in the house - the IKEA Expedit - for storage. Having one large piece of furniture for storage rather than several smaller ones has freed up the space enormously. It also provides loads of storage with its deep shelves. The containers in it are all thrifted, found on the side of the road or from secondhand markets. I used a mix of cane baskets, wooden boxes and an unused draw to hide more unsightly odds and ends and make it overall look much more neat and tidy.

This space was a very small bedroom which was converted to an office, incorporating a custom built in wall unit maximizing one entire wall and a half closet on the adjacent wall. The additional depth of the half closet creates much needed cabinet space and an extra deep shelf for the printer.

Studio DeanThis re-imagined open plan space includes a small office area created to allow home working to take place even in a compact home. A false stud is used to create a recess and allows ample space for any home worker to enjoy. Copper wall panelling brings it in to the scheme and the us of Plywood continues.
This is now a multifunctional space to be enjoyed by all family members.

TEW Design StudioThis project shows how a small room can become a functional yet stylish home office. Finding the right size desk for its use and space is very important. We added shelving units for great storage and a place to showcase beautiful items, as well as a pull-out couch which provides a seating area or an extra bed for guests to sleep in. This is a great example of how to maximize the use of a space.
