相川佐藤建築設計事務所 荒磨きの焼杉を張り巡らせた2.73m×11.22mの細長い箱状の住宅です。
妻の実家近くの良好な住環境の中に土地を見つけ、狭いながらもそこに住む覚悟をもって設計の依頼をされました。
建主は大手メーカーのプロダクトデザイナー。要望のイメージ（立原道造のヒヤシンスハウスや茨木のり子の家）とはっきりとした好み（モダンデザインと素材感など）がありました。
敷地は細長く、建物の間口は一間半しか取れず、そこに廊下をとると人が寝られる居室が取れません。その状況でいかに個と家族の居場所をつくるかを検討しました。また、空間やプライバシーなどに大小、高低、明暗など多様なシーンを与え、筒状の空間が単調にならないことを心がけています。
耐力壁の配置を左右に振り分け、緩やかに各階の空間を三等分し、中央のスペースを1階は居間、2階は板の間とし、落ち着いた留まれるスペースとしました。そこから見えるスペースでは袖壁に隠れた位置に開口を配置し、光の入り具合を調整し、性格の違うスペースを目論んでいます。
Polite Design Office/ポライトデザインオフィス北から南に細く長い、決して恵まれた環境とは言えない敷地。
その敷地の形状をなぞるように伸び、分断し、それぞれを低い屋根で繋げながら建つ。
この場所で自然の恩恵を効果的に享受するための私たちなりの解決策。
雨や雪は受け止めることなく、両サイドを走る水路に受け流し委ねる姿勢。
敷地入口から順にパブリック-セミプライベート-プライベートと奥に向かって閉じていく。

Yoshi Architects玄関土間から玄関側を見る（外構工事で隣地との目隠しフェンスを設置）。玄関横の壁のみモルタル塗り。ハイサイドライトから南側採光を取りつつプライバシーを守っている。置き型の下駄箱はいきなりリビングが見渡せないよう目隠しも兼ねたオリジナルデザイン。

This major remodel and addition set out to take full advantage of the incredible view and create a clear connection to both the front and rear yards. The clients really wanted a pool and a home that they could enjoy with their kids and take full advantage of the beautiful climate that Southern California has to offer. The existing front yard was completely given to the street, so privatizing the front yard with new landscaping and a low wall created an opportunity to connect the home to a private front yard. Upon entering the home a large staircase blocked the view through to the ocean so removing that space blocker opened up the view and created a large great room.
Indoor outdoor living was achieved through the usage of large sliding doors which allow that seamless connection to the patio space that overlooks a new pool and view to the ocean. A large garden is rare so a new pool and bocce ball court were integrated to encourage the outdoor active lifestyle that the clients love.
The clients love to travel and wanted display shelving and wall space to display the art they had collected all around the world. A natural material palette gives a warmth and texture to the modern design that creates a feeling that the home is lived in. Though a subtle change from the street, upon entering the front door the home opens up through the layers of space to a new lease on life with this remodel.
株式会社kotori前面道路に面する玄関アプローチは大きな庇と壁で囲み半屋内的な空間とすることで視線を遮りました。天井高を最低限に抑えたことで籠り感のある気持ちの良い空間となりました。
玄関扉を過ぎた先にはリビングとつながるウッドデッキがあります。籠り感のある空間の先にある屋根のないウッドデッキはより開放的に感じられます。
