Alie Zandstra ASIDThe new Kitchen and the Family Room are open to each other. So to make the rooms read well off of one another we needed to give the fireplace a face lift. So a new glass insert for the fireplace with a chrome surround and a cantilevered hearth were added. The stone tile surround was extended to the ceiling and the tile was changed. The charcoal maple flooring seen in the kitchen and the family room was added during the remodel and carried throughout most of the house. Alie Zandstra
Kristen Elizabeth DesignThis family loves classic mid century design. We listened, and brought balance. Throughout the design, we conversed about a solution to the existing fireplace. Over time, we realized there was no solution needed. It is perfect as it is. It is quirky and fun, just like the owners. It is a conversation piece. We added rich color and texture in an adjoining room to balance the strength of the stone hearth . Purples, blues and greens find their way throughout the home adding cheer and whimsy. Beautifully sourced artwork compliments from the high end to the hand made. Every room has a special touch to reflect the family’s love of art, color and comfort.
Heller & AssociatesThis sensational stone fireplace was designed in 2015 for the family room of a lakeside Bloomfield Hills home. Natural Fond du Lac stones in varying sizes and subtle shades are dry stacked, running floor to ceiling and window to window for a dramatic effect. A floating limestone mantel and hearth lighten the look and frame the horizontal firebox, where natural linear masonry fire brick, stained to a rich charcoal color before mortaring, perfectly complements the lighter grays of the natural stone. A birch log set brings a bit of the outdoors in and ignites the space with a rustic, woodsy effect. Centered overhead is a stepped ceiling detail with indirect lighting via recessed down lights and LED strip uplighting, for a soft transition into dusky evenings.
Marie Burgos DesignThis family room is the hub of the home, the use cheerful colors and fun patterns sets the tone of the room.
The comfortable seating are perfect for fun family gathering.
We kept some of the original elements such as the marble fireplace mantel and the victorian style pocket doors.
The 17th-century Spanish style design turned-wood and solid travertine top coffee table anchor the room by bringing another element with character.

Landmark HomesThis grand 2-story home with first-floor owner’s suite includes a 3-car garage with spacious mudroom entry complete with built-in lockers. A stamped concrete walkway leads to the inviting front porch. Double doors open to the foyer with beautiful hardwood flooring that flows throughout the main living areas on the 1st floor. Sophisticated details throughout the home include lofty 10’ ceilings on the first floor and farmhouse door and window trim and baseboard. To the front of the home is the formal dining room featuring craftsman style wainscoting with chair rail and elegant tray ceiling. Decorative wooden beams adorn the ceiling in the kitchen, sitting area, and the breakfast area. The well-appointed kitchen features stainless steel appliances, attractive cabinetry with decorative crown molding, Hanstone countertops with tile backsplash, and an island with Cambria countertop. The breakfast area provides access to the spacious covered patio. A see-thru, stone surround fireplace connects the breakfast area and the airy living room. Wendi Gee InteriorsTransitional living room with a bold blue sectional and a black and white bold rug. Modern swivel chairs give this otherwise traditional room a modern feel. Black wall was painted in Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams to hide the TV from standing out. Library Lights give this room a traditional feel with cabinets with beautiful molding.
Urban Project Management & ConstructionUrban Project Management renovated the sitting room and included a custom made Murphy closet. We brought the room up to the 21st century with the latest styles.
