Homes And Such LLCThis modern home nestled in the beautiful Los Altos Hills area is being remodeled both inside and out with a minimalist vibe to make the most of the breathtaking valley views. With limited structural changes to maximize the function of the home and showcase the view, the main goal of this project is to completely furnish for a busy active family of five who loves outdoors, entertaining, and fitness. Because the client wishes to extensively use the outdoor spaces, this project is also about recreating key rooms outside on the 3-tier patio so this family can enjoy all this home has to offer.
SHELLEY RODNER DESIGN / DDIThe client had requested a quiet place in their vacation home to relax, read and recharge. She wanted it to serve as a personal little 'getaway' space but allow her to still feel connected with family and guests.
A small loft area that was the 'gateway' between the client's main living area on the second floor and the bedrooms on the third floor was the perfect solution.
With an overall footprint of 6' 6" x 7' this tiny space required pieces with just the right scale and proper function.

Drab to Fab DecoratingMy clients have 4 kids and wanted them to have their own hang out space so we designed the loft around their interests. We created a Lego, sports, art and reading center walls. We then custom made the cork boards to display their school projects. The colors were a combination of all the kids favorite colors. This was designed for the kids to grow into their space, it mixes fun textures that they can enjoy now as well as when they are pre-teen. The chandelier is multi colored and is the focal point of our room! The kids LOVE IT! The stripped paint going horizontal adds a lot of visual interest to the space!
FORMA DesignThe openings at the balconies both in the Master Bedroom and in the guest bedroom areas were enlarged, and new railings inserted, that allow for uninterrupted views to the outside views through the two-story loft area. Black-out curtains may be drawn in each of these balconies to provide total escape from daylight. The two story glass wall itself is furnished with mechanized shades that come down to provide shield of the western light.
