Lavish Gardens
A path through the Stonehouse Meadow, with Monarda in full bloom. Ecological landscaping

This garden design in Castleknock was transformed from the typical dull garden, that comes with all new builds in housing estates these days, into a contemporary oasis.
Our client wanted to enjoy her garden from morning sunrise right through to sunset, so we designed two patios, positioned to get the full benefit of the sun throughout the day.
Like most new builds in housing estates, the garden and kitchen of the house are quite overlooked from the terrace of houses to the rear. For more privacy we incorporated a ‘Hedge in the Sky’ of evergreen Espalier Elaeagnus. We also made sure that there were generous planting areas left along all borders and that the lawn was framed with porcelain strips, for effortless lawn maintenance. Stepping stone pavers create an elegant design element in the small garden, guiding the way to the shed.

Native sages and Mediterranean wild mints and lavenders dance together under a canopy of palo verde, citrus and strawberry trees. Jasmine, bougainvillea, figs, olives and a sizable vegetable garden and orchard round out the planting profile. Not to mention the ultra low-water NO-MOW lawn. Used regularly for dogs & soccer.
Urban Oasis Landscape Design
A sumptuous palette of yellow and purple plants graces the slope. It’s a lush and biodiverse selection of California natives and the spirited expanse of flowers and foliage grounds the new house into the surrounding hillside. Aromatic native Sages, Monkey Flower and Yarrow play off the rich green of Coyote Bush while native Blonde Ambition Blue Grama grass brushes the magenta pom-pom flowers of Pink Melaleuca tree. The tight purple flowers of California Lilac complement the open faced California Sunflower. A Coast Live Oak was planted to stand sentry over all. Plants are all hardy and highly drought tolerant. The Kurapia groundcover lawn is verdant but, once established, hardly needs watering. The constant buzzing and bird warbling create a soothing natural soundtrack.

This concealed library garden courtyard offers total privacy after the installation a 5-foot corbelled brick garden wall and 2 ¼-inch bluestone coping. The patio features geometric bluestone and is planted with scented fragrant shrubs and collections of containers and flowers. The brick-walled fountain provides the calming sound of gently splashing water.

We were asked to design and plant the driveway and gardens surrounding a substantial period property in Cobham. Our Scandinavian clients wanted a soft and natural look to the planting. We used long flowering shrubs and perennials to extend the season of flower, and combined them with a mix of beautifully textured evergreen plants to give year-round structure. We also mixed in a range of grasses for movement which also give a more contemporary look.

The front garden for an innovative property in Fulham Cemetery - the house featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs in January 2021. The design had to enhance the relationship with the bold, contemporary architecture and open up a dialogue with the wild green space beyond its boundaries. Seen here in the height of summer, this space is an immersive walk through a naturalistic and pollinator rich planting scheme.

This family garden is split into practical spaces, incorporating a small kitchen garden, a play lawn, a small orchard, and at its core, a sunken seating area which forms a central focus, surrounded by lush and colourful planting. Dining on the terrace is possible in all weathers under the cover of a large parasol.
