Shamanic GardeningMelinda Joy Miller's personalized this meditation garden for her bohemian client. Consultations include over thirty years experience in permaculture, sustainability, and herbology. She incorporates her unique background as a medicine woman, feng shui master, cultural anthropologist, sensorimotor-integrative therapist, and metaphysical healer. This garden was a collaboration between Melinda Joy and her daughter, Kim Colwell, an interior designer and second generation feng shui master. GeoFlora GroupThis is a "after" photo prior, showing portion of Blackwater's design and construction. This project consisted of designing and installing a concrete paver patio area with a central fountain in the side yard, which was primarily weeds and undesirable vegetation.
Roland Oehme Landscape ArchitectureThis is a small garden (approx. 600 sq. ft.) next to a corner townhome in an urban setting in Baltimore’s popular Hampden neighborhood. We transformed this former weed patch into a thriving and beautiful pollinator garden of mostly native plants. The client specifically wanted flowering plants for all pollinators, but especially hummingbirds, and the garden was to be bird friendly as well. I designed the garden and installed it with the help of landscape contractors. I located a water fountain against the rear wall. The client also desired a vine to cover the rear wall so I selected the Trumpet Vine which is growing beautifully. I continue to oversee the maintenance of this garden.

Yet it provides so much ambiance and relaxation while the pleasant sound of the water drowns out the traffic noise nearby. The water recirculates and is stored underground thus keeping evaporation, bug, & algae problems away.
Merrifield Garden CenterA overflowing urn adds focus and a surprising touch of civilization within this naturalistic planting of perennials and evergreens. The fountain is a "disappearing" type that has a hidden basin in the ground, so it easily recirculates without having a surrounding pool. Design and installation by Merrifield Garden Center.
