Nordland Landscapes
This garden was overgrown and not used at all by the property owners. The homeowners wanted a contemporary courtyard that was family friendly and modern.
To achieve this, materials were chosen to match the stylish interior of the house. Also by using lighter coloured material we were able to brighten up the garden. The printed porcelain paving gave a contemporary modern feel whilst introducing added interest. Cedar batten fencing was used to clad the boundaries to minimise the oppressive feel of the high boundaries and to introduce more light into the garden.
The cedar timber floating bench now provides a place to sit and entertain. It is also the perfect height for the clients’ children to use as a play bench.
To brighten up the dull and dark corner by the french doors, the original steps were clad in beautiful blue and grey encaustic tiles to add much needed colour and interest in an area that had been previously neglected.
This contemporary courtyard is now bright and welcoming and used by the property owners and their children on a daily basis.

The improvements to the existing character weatherboard house focused on remodeling an existing low ceilinged enclosed sleepout into a light filled sunroom and study that relates to a private garden. Bespoke joinery bestows a specific function to areas within, freeing up floor space.

As with the exterior façade of this modern Arabic villa architectural design in Ta’if, Saudi Arabia, the front yard landscape seamlessly merges the traditional elements with the contemporary ones, displayed by the use of Islamic ornaments embedded within the clear-cut building form.

This garden had originally been installed by the developers of this new-build property. The homeowner, a trained garden designer, provided us with a modernist garden design to replace an outdoor space that didn’t suit their needs. Having a north facing aspect, the garden didn’t get a lot of sunlight.
We used light-coloured porcelain paving from London Stone to help brighten up the garden.
The timber fences were painted a dark colour to create contrast to the light-coloured paving and to give a dark backdrop to frame the planting.
To satisfy the homeowner’s passion for horticulture and to provide much needed colour, we created large flower beds which became the main focus of the garden. We also used a wide variety of trees and plants hand selected and specially cultivated from cuttings by the client.
Due to the sunken nature of the lower patio, there was potential for flooding during heavy rain. To resolve this, we introduced a hidden slot drain that was able to cope with large volumes of water.

Elegant details and ornaments decorate the façade of this modern Arabic villa architectural design in Ta’if, Saudi Arabia, from the extended exterior wall lamps to the Islamic patterns and the horseshoe windows with black frames.

This property boasts acres of surrounding land but the clients wanted to create an intimate garden space close to the house – one where the family share al fresco meals and precious time together relaxing by a new pool. The bespoke pool-house offers both and is the perfect place to enjoy the evening sun. Planting here is minimal restricted to sculptural mature olives in oak sleeper planters under-planted with the tall elegant flower wands of lavender grosso. The contemporary pool terrace offers views over the surrounding farmland but breaks away with an open lawn sweeping around the house to reveal a riot of colour, architectural planting and hidden arbours.

Intrinsic Landscapes
Floating, tiered bluestone steps and an aggregate driveway dominate the grand front entrance to this modern home. But the deliberately harsh angles and grey palate are softened by the contrast of the bright planting and flowers.
