ChangoA playground by the beach. This light-hearted family of four takes a cool, easy-going approach to their Hamptons home.
AJ Margulis InteriorsThe clients bought a new construction house in Bay Head, NJ with an architectural style that was very traditional and quite formal, not beachy. For our design process I created the story that the house was owned by a successful ship captain who had traveled the world and brought back furniture and artifacts for his home. The furniture choices were mainly based on English style pieces and then we incorporated a lot of accessories from Asia and Africa. The only nod we really made to “beachy” style was to do some art with beach scenes and/or bathing beauties (original painting in the study) (vintage series of black and white photos of 1940’s bathing scenes, not shown) ,the pillow fabric in the family room has pictures of fish on it , the wallpaper in the study is actually sand dollars and we did a seagull wallpaper in the downstairs bath (not shown).
Kitchen Solvers of Southwest FloridaKitchen remodeling project where the homeowners elected to upgrade their kitchen to a more transitional look by installing new cabinets. They went with the Manhattan door by Bridgewood done in Maple. The kitchen cabinets were done in the color white while the island cabinets were done in a custom navy color. To complete the new look we installed crown molding, a new Cambria quartz countertop done in Ella, a white subway backsplash and around the range we installed a custom decorative backsplash.
Hagstrom BuilderA Modern Farmhouse set in a prairie setting exudes charm and simplicity. Wrap around porches and copious windows make outdoor/indoor living seamless while the interior finishings are extremely high on detail. In floor heating under porcelain tile in the entire lower level, Fond du Lac stone mimicking an original foundation wall and rough hewn wood finishes contrast with the sleek finishes of carrera marble in the master and top of the line appliances and soapstone counters of the kitchen. This home is a study in contrasts, while still providing a completely harmonious aura.
Wellington's Fine Leather FurnitureDistressed brown leather sofa with matching leather lounge chair and push back recliner. The leather hide rug accent is extremely durable and comfortable. Lots of natural light surround this warm and cozy family room.
Sheila Rich Interiors, LLCPocket doors allow the multifunctional family room to become a private main floor fifth bedroom for weekend guests. Ottomans are used in lieu of a coffee table, offering extra seating as well as surface space and allowing better traffic flow.
The proportionally-sized custom wall unit with strategically placed angles and touch-latch doors (eliminating protrusions) leaves just enough functional floor space for the queen-size mattress to open comfortably.
